"Wake up." The voice was calling to me. It was a sweet dreamy voice, like a mother waking you for breakfast before school. "Wake up sweetheart, wake up." I smiled and clutched the blankets tighter around my shoulders. "WAKE UP BEFORE YOU DIE," it said abruptly.

I bolted straight up. It was his room. I was back in his room. My love had brought me back here. The closet door was open and the chair was still there with the bedsheets on it. Theresa was not there. I was alone in the room for the moment.

Get out of here! The voice yelled in my skull.

I ran to the window and flung it open. My arm had stopped bleeding for the time being, but the wound was making it hard for me to pull myself up through the window. I was halfway through when I heard his voice within the room. "No! no! no!" He was shouting. "It's okay, come back!"

He had hold of my legs and was pulling me back through. I managed to kick him pretty good in the jaw before he got me back in the room. He threw me back on the bed and held up his hand as a warning not to move. He rubbed his jaw and cracked his neck before speaking.

"What is going on here? I came in and found blood everywhere and Theresa tied up in the closet unconscious! After I get her off to the hospital, Jones down the street calls me and says my girlfriend is running like a psycho down the road!"

I was having trouble breathing. This was a trick. She wasn't at the hospital. She was right outside the door. I just knew it. He found her like that and woke her up. She must've sent him after me. I was searching wildly around the room for some way to escape. He was just too fast and too strong. The guy was almost a certifiable maniac with army training.

"You're going to die," the voice said. "You should have killed her."

Then, I noticed the knife! I had knocked it from Theresa's hand and it was still there partially hidden underneath the dresser. If I was fast enough I could get it and get out of here.

I jumped up and snatched the knife from the floor as his arms encircled my waist. "Stop it!" He yelled. I managed to squirm out of his grasp and whip around with the knife pointed at him.

"Back off. I'm gonna walk outta here and you're gonna stay right here. Don't come after me or I'll kill you."

"You know I'll get to you first," he said with that wide grin on his face.
