I enjoy writing poetry. I have enjoyed it since childhood. I have a personal collection that I keep to myself, and while I don’t think I’m willing to share my personal poems online; I thought I could practice writing some poems just for USM. So, perhaps I can consider this “Poem #1” of what may be an ongoing series.
I think it would only be appropriate to write the first one about my early experiences with USM.
I call it: “When a teen went online”.
After school, I go inside my home and move past the arguments.
The air is loud.
Online, things are still,
Calm and welcoming.
I escape what I know is unescapable
To a place I know isn’t real.
But I feel and it feels
Real and loving.
And I am loving and real
When I’m there.
