Can you see me? Can you see the real me? The one who is shut inside this husk? Screaming to be heard? What do you know about me? About ME? You know nothing! Nothing about the time I was raped, Nothing about the time I was beat, Social workers in my face, Only wanting the best for me! Policeman there for my protection? MY PROTECTION! HA! Too much, Too soon, A child grown too soon! And yet you say you know me. You know my darkness, My sweet light, All that was, And you still love me! You love ME! How dare you love me!
I am too white, Too young, Ashamed of who I am, What I am, Political correctness took my voice, I am too wrong to be heard, A statistic in a computer, Not been downtrodden enough, Not been abused enough, Yet I scream from the pain, The pain of what I am.
I am a person, Like you, Like them, A different shade of color, But you have made me feel ashamed, Ashamed! How Dare You Make Me Ashamed! How Dare YOU! I suffered, I bled, I fought, I cried, And you want me to be ashamed! Shame on YOU!
Your pity put me into torture, You justice made it public, Your shame made it “A Cause” And your lies made ME! I am a child of the cities, A number to be used, One more statistic, Just one more abused! Social Pariah.
