Does Bush have his priorities right/straight?--r1

I think the Bush administration has it's priorities all wrong. First, they send in 3000 troups to find a man who we know caused us harm. The man is Osama Bin Laden. We have less than 3000 in Afghanistan now tracking someone we know who harmed us! At the same time we have 200,000 troups in the Iraq region overthrowing some guy who did nothing to us. This seems like a bad order of priorities.

Right now we have an ecomony on the verge of destruction and the solution is to give tax cuts which will run up our debt and deficit. This is not a good mix for a strong economy. Yes it is our money, but it's also our gov't. And if we get more of our money back, our gov't will go into deficits. In the long run that will cause more harm. Those priorities seem messed up!

We can afford a war on Iraq and we can afford to have our troups there for who knows how long, but we won't spend our money to provide health care to all who need it! We can drop a billion dollars worth of bombs to free a bunch of people who really don't appreciate it, but we won't spend those billions to give health care to our own who are dying! Priorities are all wrong here!

Date: 5/19/2003 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    I would have to say I agree for the most part...I just feel that being the president of one of the most powerful nations in the world is a very difficult job and by not actually having to make those decisions it can seem very simple what we should and should not do
Date: 5/19/2003 10:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    I also wondered about this, why the change of direction...I asked my husband several times, what about Bin Laden...I thought it was a cover up and they wanted us to believe we got him...as much as I love a good tax cut proposal, wartime is not the time to make such proposals...he's already got the presidential seat assured, as long as he keeps our troops in the line of fire...I do know a certain troop here at USM is in the mountain division and training for his deployment to Afghanistan, so they are still there, it's just that CNN is more interested in the Iraqi combat action...ratings, remember the ratings
Date: 5/19/2003 10:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    I think Bush's priorities are correctly set. He is a good man with good intentions and one that cares about those in less fortunate situations than us.
Date: 5/19/2003 10:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    I'm sure his priorities are perfectly straight in his own mind: first money, then absolute power...
Date: 5/19/2003 10:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    Laughin' my freakin' booty off @ RM!! You should've heard the meniacal voice in which I heard your comment as I read it alloud in my head, LOL! Wicked Bushmon...
Date: 5/19/2003 11:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    yeah it is pretty funny. I even pictured him as I was writing it, with horns and looking through burrowed brows all the while rubbing his greedy little hands together...and of course, we can't forget the evil laugh...LoL!
Date: 5/20/2003 12:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 29806    Here, my post on the subject. http://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm341091.html -ID-

Date: 5/20/2003 5:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 61941    Priorites are right we're they need to be it's just that know body is looking at the big picture. Bush is doing everything he can to make things work. If your think you can do better, by all means get up there and do it. But you can't. Bush seen a potential threat to the United States and took care of it, if you don't see it that way then your messed up. Sure right now Saddam wasn't a big threat to us, but to that part of the world he was. We as American can't complain everytime our government does something that they don't approve of, it won't go nowhere. Americans need to make up and take action for themselves. It's not the govt fault that people have to many kids to support then go on welfare because their to dang lazy to go out and get a job, It's not the govt fault that people would rather live on the streets instead of going and finding a job to support their lifestylies, it's not the govt fault for the desicions us Americans make, they do their best with what they have. There is so much Govt funding and programs out there that will help anyone's problems all you have to do is look for it, the problem is now-a-days is that America has become lazy, and always quick to point a fingure at something when things don't go their way. Wake up people, If we don't start coming together and climb over this wall that we've been stuck at for a few decades now and progress both mentally and physically, evolution will take over and wipe us of the face of the Earth. If you look around the process has already begun.
Date: 5/20/2003 6:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Tax cuts are a great economic stimulus, IF you can also force cuts in spending. A strong economy increases tax revenues and reduces the deficit. Also a flat tax would work best. (People making over $53,000 a year pay over 83% of taxes collected while 8 Billion goes out in refunds to people who pay no tax at all, explain that one). The problem is the Democrats fight this to the end. Socialized health care does not work well. Medical costs can be lowered by Tort reform to drop the cost of Malpractice insurance (also contested heavily by the Democrats). Personally I could care less about Iraq, but a democratic nation in the Middle east can do nothing but help bring stability to the region.
Date: 5/20/2003 6:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 15394    awww I think it is erroneous to say that we dropped all that dough on people that don't care... I think a lot of them are very greatful.. I think it outrageous to ignore human autrocities in other countries... but I agree with you, that human autrocities are happening here at home, and we ignore and sweep the issues under the rug... I agree with priorities being askew, but I do think that what we did in Iraq was a necessary action.
Date: 5/20/2003 6:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 19092    For me, the mass graves discovered in Iraq are more than enough to justify our actions. I also hope that things get better here at home. There is some serious work to do here on our economy. And what I've seen from the democrats in the last few months makes me sick...
Date: 5/20/2003 7:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 26803    I think the war effort was explained well to you, so I'll try to explain the tax cuts...and why they work. When people have more money they feel more secure in spending it. When people spend more money on goods and services, jobs that exist are more secure and more jobs are created to keep up with demand. Those that feel that their jobs are more secure spend more money...those who get new jobs spend more money...more jobs are created. See the cycle? Let us not forget that a $350 billion tax cut extrapolated over 10 years amounts to .0028 of the GDP over that time frame. Basic economics man...coenlaf
Date: 5/20/2003 5:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 54987    Yes he's got his priorities right... HIS priorities.
Date: 5/20/2003 5:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    I think we need to get rid of 75% of all welfare paychecks. How exactly does free money motivate someone to get off there rear ends? Give the people that actaully make money and but things a tax cut and quit squandering our money on worthless people. If we neglected to do anything in the middle east and we where attacked the likes of 9/11 our economy would be in shambles. Ok how about this our economy is bad cause theres less money to spend etc as opposed to a bad economy cause theres nobody to spend the money.
Date: 5/20/2003 6:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 22080    george carlin said it best "cant get education to our young people, cant get healthcare to our old people but we sure can bomb the **** outta your country"
Date: 5/20/2003 8:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    Man with people saying anti-war stuff like tha tI dont have much to be worried about thats just down right dumb.
Date: 5/21/2003 6:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Welfare should be outright abolished Big Tex. We already have social security for widows and orphans. And there was a time when families and the community would take care of those in need. There is absolutely no reason why ANYONE should be out of a job. Why is it that an illegal alien, speaking no English can be working within days of crossing the border. But some fat welfare queen can sit in her government supplied housing and say she can't find work.
Date: 5/21/2003 5:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 53314    The only thing wrong with America is the fact that if your white you are at the bottom of the barrel. Boarder jumpers Aren't even supposed to be here but they can pop out a few kids and suddenly they get free healthcare? Although I think everyone should have a job, a 30 year old male does not want to ask his acne covered 16 year old manager a question on his first day at McDonalds. That is no excuse though, Welfare should be abolished the only way you should get money is if you put something back into the economy. Hey, Do you even know why America went to war? Simply to dispose of Sadam's dubious supply of nuclear and chemical weapons, none of which have been found...Not to mention a country that poses a threat to America and a country that doesn't see things the same as America are very different. The problem with America is that it is full of idiots that cannot think for themselves, They just follow what bush says because they believe that he is so great simply because he is the president. Common now? The war was unjustified and to me Mr. Bush is not such a great president. My fellow Americans, Iraq has Nuke U lar weapons It Is a lucid FACT haha...America Maybe Ill pick a fight with all of the teens that support the war...Then all I have to do is goto Iraq and 86% of them will have no idea where I went.
Date: 5/21/2003 7:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 54987    White are at the bottom of the barrel!? Hahahah love that one... but you're right about the rest of your reply. Right on mate! As they say.
Date: 5/22/2003 9:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 16538    Whites aren't at the bottom of the barrel in social status and economic status but In terms of special rights we get really shafted. And thats no lie.
