American Idol ... tonight's episode...........~SpaceCase

Tonight's theme was Billboard #1 Hits and the guest judge was Lionel Richie.

1. Clay Aiken- "If I Could Just Hold You Again" I found him to be consistent with past performances...I am pretty sure he will be the runner up for the American Idol. Simon was the only one moved by the performance, saying he chose the perfect song.

2. Kimberly Locke- "My Heart Will Go On" I liked her version better than Celine's...but then, I don't like Celine!! She's safe for now...could end up in the top three, top five for sure.

3. Rickey Smith- "Endless Love" I was impressed that he pulled off a Lionel Richie song in front of the man himself. I was also impressed once again by his falsetto range! I hope he is picked up by a recording label and see him in the top five as well.

4. Kimberly Caldwell- "Everything I Do" What is it about this chick suddenly choosing DUDE SONGS??? She's going down fast and hard! If she doesn't get the boot tomorrow, she will next week! Major BLAH!

5. Joshua Gracin- "Amazed" Obviously no longer ill, this boy came out strong and stayed strong the whole performance!! Excellent country twang, I found Gracin "Maverick sexy" this week! Great redemption from last week's lackluster performance. You just know that boy loves his woman!!

6. Carmen Rasmusin- "Call Me" For one, this girl maybe blonde, but she will never be Blondie!! The performance lacked the strength the song commanded and the judges felt the same way I did! It's definitely between her and Caldwell to make this week's exit! Simon: Absolutely dreadful!

7. Trenyce- "Power of Love" I do believe Trenyce saved herself this week. She did have a few tonal problems, but the power with which she belted out this song made up for any minor glitches. Simon disagreed with me saying that she and Rasmusin deserved being the bottom two last week and deserve the same this week! I don't think Simon much cares for Trenyce :P

8. Ruuuuuuben Studdard- "Kiss & Say Goodbye" Once again my man blew all competition out of the water! Simon put it best (because I thought the same thing while mesmerized by the velvet teddy bear) If Rubin went out and cut that song tomorrow, it would go straight to # 1 again! Flawless, I am so very impressed with the control and professionalism of his gorgeous voice!

So that's it. Tomorrow we'll see who goes...and hopefully the Astros will not be televised so my viewing isn't interrupted...grrrrrr!

Date: 4/8/2003 6:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    I saw the show, too!!!!I love Ruben!!!Kimberley Caldwell and Carmen were not at there best singing. I did like the way Trenyce did a good job, too along with Josh!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    I agree with everything you said except Trynece. Her voice doesnt do too much for me, I really dont care for her. As far as the bottom 2 I think Carmen and Kimberly Caldwell should go. They didnt do too well tonight. I give Carmen credit for trying to pull that song of though.
Date: 4/8/2003 6:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 38683    I'll have to watch the next show!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    for some reason they are not holding my interest this year
Date: 4/8/2003 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 45948    I agree with everything you said. At first I kind of liked Kimberly Caldwell, but here lately, she has been slipping. GO RUBEN!!!!!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    Again I have to agree with you...Ruben was beyond awesome tonight!!!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 48689    Thanks for the update!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 28190    I agree with all the above.... I think it would have been better if Carmen had done Kimberly Caldwell's song and vise versa, due to their voices.. They are both probably going to the bottom three.. And the only other one that I can even remotely see going to the bottom three other than those two would maybe be Rickey.. Still undecided... But Ruben, has amazed me week after week, and I will be SHOCKED if he isnt the American Idol #1 pick when it's all said and done Good post *hugs* Love, Amanda
Date: 4/8/2003 6:38:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    hey...did Carmen Rasmusin get a weave, I swear she put miracle grow on her hair...every week it seems longer and longer! Midnightly...I watch it to judge...I love the fact that I've always been able to pick the long lasting performers (in the music industry and movies) from the stinkers. My husband has tried, but he doesn't have the knack But it makes for a fun hour at my house...even my six year old has commentary per performer We've turned it into a weekly party for us and our lil' boys!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    good point on the song switch Amanda! AngelEyez..yeah, I agree, she should have made it on the show, but she's just stinkin' up her chances with shoddy song choices!
Date: 4/8/2003 6:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 28190    Yep.... lol... She said they were Hair extensions.. She got last week during the "Disco era" of songs I think it looks pretty natural. It works on her, thats for sure
Date: 4/8/2003 6:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 30621    Yes, Carmen did get extensions. I love the way you write these reviews. I will disagree with you on one thing and agree with DMK about Trenyce. Her singing didn't cut it this week. She may be the one voted off this time.
Date: 4/8/2003 6:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 14780    Spacecase..thank you sooo much for this review...I missed it because my daughter had a choir concert tonight. From your past reviews I can tell we are the same as far as what we like on this show. Again, thanks!
Date: 4/8/2003 7:48:00 PM  ( Admin-DNL )   I thought everyone did really well tonight with the exception of a few. By the judges comments and their performances I believe Carmen, Trenyce, and Kimberly C. will be in the bottom 3.
Date: 4/9/2003 7:13:00 PM  ( Admin-DNL )   I am so shocked Rikki got voted off tonight! It should have been Carmen.
Date: 4/13/2003 7:44:00 AM  From Authorid: 20104    I was really sad when Rickey Smith got kicked off. I thought it was going to be Kimberly Caldwell for sure. Kimberly Locke sang beautifuly. I was surprised to see her in the bottom 3. I am wishing that Cloay will sing a different kind of song. I like him a lot, but most of the songs are the same kind and I want to hear a little change. I am starting to pull for Ruben. He is so good. It is sickening. j/k
Date: 4/13/2003 7:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 20104    BTW, is there something going on between Carmen and Clay. I think so. Watch them next Tuesday and wednesday. They are always singing to each other and sitting by each other. It doesnt surprise me. Clay is a cutie and so is Carmen.
Date: 4/13/2003 12:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53836    ITA w/ you Jamie and Danielle, what a crock, people jamming the lines for Clay and Ruben, who are OBVIOUSLY SAFE should've voted for Rickey...Caldwell is still in because of all the male voters and goofy teenage girls who want to be just like her...I think...I also have to wonder about Carmen and Clay...their act looked to be alot more than that...we'll see Thanks for coming in Jamie
