The food spilt out over the grass where Carina had dropped it when she felt the bite. Simon rushed over to her. "Carina! Carina! Wake up!" he cried as he shook her. Pain etched through him as she didn't wake up. Carrying her to bed, he thought of what to do after, he was going to Bilian to look for a doctor. "I'll be back" he whispered to Carina, and kissed her forehead. Outside, Simon rushed to the stable and fetched the old mare that would take him to town. Riding 3 km to town and back would tire the old horse down so Simon grabbed some hay for her. As Simon rode on the dirt road, thoughts of death occured to to him but he shook them away and then was more determined to save Carina.

Reaching town, he went to all of the town's doctors but only one had medication for snake wounds. People knew her only as 'Graham', no one called her anything else. She was abandoned as a child and knew only her first name. She was sent to a foster family but Graham was stubborn and didn't accept the foster family's names. Since she was a child, she was Carina's rival. Graham was jealous of Carina since Carina got everything she wanted and so Graham came up with the idea that she had fabulous parents that loved her. And this, was the truth, but Carina's parents were too bust making money to care about her. Carina grew up isolated and scorned by her peers because of their jealousy of her money. Although she didn't turn egotistic or eccentric, she was lonely. That was until Simon moved to Bilian. Simon thought of this when he went to look for Graham at her office by the old fountain.
