Memories and thoughts from days gone by
Playing softly in my mind they can be found
But now, faced with another holiday to endure
The tears of sadness in my eyes trickle down
You told me once, "Do not cry for me when I'm gone"
Saying that only from this world would you depart
That the presence of your love I would still have
Living always, gently placed, within my heart
I remember that you said your love could never die
That no one could ever take that away
It was given to me even before I was born
And nothing would ever cause that love to sway
Suddenly, as I sit here, thinking back to all you said
I realize how true your words have come to be
For every passing day, I feel your loving presence
And I know your love continues to live on within me
Now dabbing the tears away from my eyes
I find my lips begin, with a tiny smile, to part
I am aware of the warmth that generates from within
You and your love will forever remain alive in my heart
