Blair Witch is one of my favourites! Some others that come to mind are Cloverfield, A Quiet Place, The Others, and The Ring. |

Some of my favorite scary movies …. Ok, showing my age here…… 1. The Last Man On Earth , starring Vincent Price. Based on Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend.. 2. Whatever Happened To Baby Jane starring Bette Davis ( She also did Hush, Hush Sweet Charolette around this time ) 3. Rear Window with James Stewart and Grace Kelly ( by the same director who made Psycho ) 4. The Innocents with Deborah Kerr 5. Wait Until Dark starring Audrey Hepburn |

...I'm not really a big fan of the genre and tend to lean towards comedic movies but the earliest horror film that I can remember seeing is "The Blob" when channel 7 in Buffalo would air their Friday night horror offerings. (It's 11 o'clock. Do you know where your children are?) Around 1964 or so. Seeing this movie so many times over the intervening years, I finally came to the conclusion that small town American citizens of the time must have had some inbred moronic streak if they would just walk up to the disgusting pile of black gloop and pretty much offer themselves up as sacrifices. Then I mentally consider the fate of "The Blob" in today's times and don't see much hope for it given the selection of weaponry available to even the most backwards yokel, as long as they can come up with the bucks to buy it. The only other film that registers with me is "Annabelle". I took the family to the drive-in to see it and suffering through it until the second feature "Reds 2" started. There was a part in "Annabelle" that was super scary as they surrounded one of the jump-scare scenes with about a 6.000 decibel increase in the sound level that promptly blew out my right front speaker. I'm not sure if musicals or anything with Nicolas Cage are included in my overly broad definition of "horror" so I won't get into either of those. |

...those are the good old days when there was always something burning in Tonawanda or Cheektowaga. GUARANTEED! Every Friday night. If police had the crimefighting assets then that they do now, they would clearly have seen the work of a serial arsonist that was made to wear dresses as a child and had to rely on public transport. |

...HARK! Is that the sound of someone sobbing into their prune juice? |
Date: 11/10/2023 8:01:00 AM From Authorid: 5940 Prune juice? Isn’t that what prevented you from competing as part of the Jamaican Bob sled team in the ‘iI Winter Olympics? |

...the prune juice was effective enough in the past to give us that extra inspiration to get to the bottom of the run as quick as possible. They even gave us a gold medal once we came back out. |
Date: 11/11/2023 8:02:00 AM From Authorid: 21435 TinaTurner12 I'm not sure if I was ever actually "scared" by watching a movie. One movie that did sorta creep me out, was "Jeepers Creepers." The whole idea of stealing someone's eyes and then seeing through them. Ugh! Write on..... |
Date: 11/11/2023 12:33:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 56297 Kronk that's a good one! I remember being really freaked out when I first saw it as a teenager. I rewatched it not long ago and although it was a bit less scary than I remembered it, it was nonetheless a very fun movie. |
Date: 11/14/2023 3:30:00 PM From Authorid: 55251 Jeepers Creepers! The intro to that movie was so well made in my opinion. |
