~These January Winter Days~
Good afternoon Angels
I hope my posting finds all doing well…. An update since my last posting.....
I’m doing as well as can be expected…..sitting here this afternoon watching the Insp channel with an episode of The Classic tv western, The Virginian. We got some snow last night, if I had plenty of practice on how to post photos, I’d take some quick pics and post them for all to see. It’s cold as a well digger’s pic! Lol The air is frigid that’s for certain, dressing in layered clothing a very wise decision and sometimes it doesn’t seem enough!. Two of my puppers stay on the porch and they have their choice of heavy blankets or they can go into their doghouse….the rest of my furbabies have kennel, so thankful they have provisions to stay warm and out of the snow and ice..
I had heard from a local news meteorologist that the snow was supposed to bypass us, once again they were wrong. I was busy late into the Fall getting ready for Winter and am glad I took care of everything. A good habit I’ve learned to prepare for snow with buying groceries and other supplies, knowing I will be snowed in for a few days .It started here yesterday evening and again last night long before neighboring counties, towns. It’s really hard on a lot of people going through this pandemic/covid having to stay at home then get this snow .I’m thankful I can go sit on my porch for a while, getting some fresh air….checking on my puppers, the chickies, walk around or get on the side by side and drive around a little….but not for long it’s so cold!! But enough to break up the monotony of being inside so much.
I’m thinking about maybe writing again, a little anyway…I haven’t done too much since Honey Sweetness…… I guess writing is like any thing else…you really have to have the right frame of mind to do it. I’m not as busy during these winter days……although I can always think of something that needs done around here……rearranging my closet for one lol and a couple of painting projects to complete.
One project I’ve been wanting to complete for the past 10 years, I’ve been wanting bookshelves made…..a complete entertainment center with shelves for books I should say, but finding a woodworker is the delay. My husband was a master craftsman, I enjoyed helping him on some small projects during the winter months, we’d spend hours in his workshop in the barn…
I enjoyed doing that so much, loving the smell of wood……he had gathered all different shapes sizes and type of wood for he and I to work on during these long cold days, nights when he passed suddenly……..It’s been tough….but each day that goes by a little better….I look at photographs I’ve taken these past few years……the lawn in Summer looks nice maybe not as nice as he had kept it but it still looks nice…. I still have things I need to decide what to do with…but I’m not in any hurry.
His clothing, shoes are still in the closet and they can remain there it doesn’t bother me….I even wear some of his heavy jackets coats and flannel shirts in Winter….. coordinate the colors with a matching blouse underneath…he’d laugh at that I think. I just cannot wear his pants or his shoes! :D I will say I am so looking forward to Spring!....
we had been having some wonderful Sunshine in spite of the cold blustery days…I went back outside onto the porch after feeding last week…..and noticed a red tail hawk had flew upon one of my Bluebird houses, the house has 7 entries----I love the hawks but don’t want my Bluebirds intimidated, he must have been after some dinner. He flew away and then returned for a few minutes then left and hasn’t been back….
I’ve noticed that rabbits are surely plentiful, I left one afternoon to go pick up some dogfood last week when I started down the driveway and encountered at least 10 to 15 rabbits! So that tells me that either the hawks haven’t been in my area too often or the rabbits have a good hiding place. I love nature it always makes me cheerful and happy, decorating does too so I decorated a little for January always in a blue peace theme.. I was nearly froze when I came in the cabin! Even though I was in layers, 2 pairs of socks etc I’m just glad I didn’t decorate as much as I have always done…..just enough to bring a little cheer…..
Like many, I am simply taking one day at a time .Finished my last home health assignment a while ago…many are so scared of this virus and with good reason…….we all must be careful but not quit living enjoying our lives, I know our Governor here in Kentucky has made it very difficult for us, shutting so much down, but there are so many places, businesses shut down all over our nation…..It’s not always easy to remain positive and cheerful….especially in times like we’re now living…but trusting in The Lord….knowing He is Faithful and keeps His Promises…..and there is a brighter day coming……..
I try to find things to do to keep myself busy occupied----then in evening or the weekends, I read, watch tv, I enjoy some westerns, nice romance and mystery movies on the Hallmark channel, Christian channels, but also enjoy the history and National Geographic too and I listen to music, cook a little and enjoy taking photographs….one of these days I’m going to buy myself a nice Nikon….;)
I hope all enjoy the weekend and are finding things to keep You Cheerful………it’s important
