Tearing Down My Childhood Home~Psyguy

  Author:  63026  Category:(Discussion) Created:(9/12/2014 8:18:00 AM)

I posted my house on a facebook group, only to find out the people who lived there before my parents, sister, brother, and I as a child, told  me the guy who owned it sold it to "The Boys and Girls Club of America".

They want to build a big building for troubled youth, and they are using the  Baseball All-Star Game money  to build it.  That's a cruel twist of irony cause I want to go to the All-Star Game, so I'm using my own money to tear down my childhood home.

Oh that's just dandy, use the game I love to tear down the house with so many memories.

We almost got to rent it last year, and I wish we had, just to live there one more time.

The thing is this house is haunted, and I still have dreams about this house. Scary dreams, and a lot of strange events took place there when I was growing up.

How can I get closure now if they tear it down.

The house hosted a lot of family holidays, birthday parties, and good times, and with my mom passed away, it's even sadder.

I want something from this house as a memento, or hopefully go through it one more time before they tear it down.

It breaks my heart, but at least it's going to hopefully help the youth here in the center they are building.

Date: 9/12/2014 9:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 10773    Yeah, I'm for what Moma Bug suggested. My childhood home has been redone so many times since we moved out a decade ago, I would love to see what the inside looks like now. I go by it everytime I'm in that part of town. You can feel good about the community center that's going up, though, that's a great thing! And just hope that those kids can make as many wonderful memories as you did on that spot.

Date: 9/12/2014 10:03:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63026    Yea, actually the house is going to be the driveway. I went through it last year, and it was still the same.
Date: 9/12/2014 12:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    As I read through your post, I was going to suggest exactly what Moma Bug said. I feel your pain, because the house my grandparents lived in through my whole childhood was torn down. The land was used for a road expansion project. It was crushing to think that I could never go back and see that wonderful piece of my life.

I hope you will get to go through the house again. Yes, take plenty of photos and video. Progress for the Boys & Girls Club can never take away all the memories you have locked in your mind about this wonderful home.

Date: 9/12/2014 4:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 3263    The house I grew up in was torn down a few months ago. That was really sad to see. The good thing is that I still have the memories and nobody can tear those down!

Date: 11/23/2014 6:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 67327    That is so sad. I'm sorry to hear that. If only there was a way to buy the place back and then find another place to host the Boys and Girls club, unless they can somehow relocate the house. The house I used to live in as a kid was relocated. I have no idea where it is though. Either way, I hope you can take home what you can from your old home. *hugs*
Date: 11/24/2014 5:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63026    Nope they tore it down already. It's a done deal.
Date: 2/16/2017 4:01:00 PM  From Authorid: 12876    Maybe this is a message from above.Let it go remember no matter what happens our footsteps are always there
