First 5.7km (3.54 miles) charity run...

Wahooo!  Today I completed my first ever charity run...I've completed charity walks before.  But have never entered the running sections.

My friend and I have been training for awhile, but had never managed to run more than 16mins....But today we ran quite a distance before walking for a minute.  We only walked all up for about 3 mins, so ran just over the 5kms...

As you can tell, I'm pumped! :D

My boyfriend and I were talking about joining a 5K charity run, I am NOT a runner so I would definitely have to train, any tips?
Thanks for sharing

Date: 10/14/2012 1:27:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 26303    Hi Zel...yep..there is an app called Couch to 5K...yours will be different I guess cos of the fact you guys speak in miles..but do an app search for something like that. Or try google to find websites that do. The app tells you to walk x amount of minutes then run x amount...very gradual build up...I do a lot of walking and zumba, so skipped a fair bit of it...But my friend started it before me, and built up...we did the run together...Having a running buddy is a good idea. Good luck with it...it is an awesome feeling when you achieve your goal.
Date: 10/14/2012 4:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    That's great. The kids and I are doing a 5k charity run next month. I plan to run some/walk some.

Date: 10/15/2012 5:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 43991    Wow!! Go you! My brother used to run marathons *super long ones* all the time. Sometimes if they had a walk my parents and I would do it with them. But me running? lol, I WISH!

Date: 10/20/2012 10:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 11097    Thanks for the tips, I will look for that app I also attended a zumba class this month, it was intense but I liked it, I might sign up for that to keep my endurance up. My boyfriend seen they have this "Zombie Chase" 5k for charity I believe, and you run through an obstacle course with them chasing you... wish me luck...lol
And again, congrats on your achievement
