I have random jolts of hearing things falling when Im asleep, or something in my dream will jolt me awake, I sometimes "fall" in my dream. Like my body collapses for no reason, and I can feel it happening... It makes no sense. |

Yes, I've had this happen. I think it's a natural phenomenon, although it apparently doesn't happen to everyone. ' |

Yes... Its almost like something doesn't want you to fall asleep. This happened a lot to me as a child. |
Date: 12/5/2009 11:49:00 PM From Authorid: 54444 it sounds like the early stages of out of body travel. The sudden snap back or sensation of falling and sudden wake up is from your brain fearing what is happening. It thinks it is dying and wakes you up. Eventually it will realize what is happening and overcome its fear and you will begin nighttime OBEs. On the other hand you could be experiencing sleep apnea where you suddenly stop breathing and wake up. For that I recommend a sleep study because you might need medical help like a CPAP. If you are sleepy during the day it is probably the second choice, meaning you are not getting enough deep sleep during the night. |
Date: 12/6/2009 2:34:00 AM From Authorid: 21630 I read an article about this a while ago. It's acctually a kind of audio hallucination. The most common is hearing someone saying your name, I usualy hear my mother calling my name as I have experienced this many times as well. But as Gypsyhawk said, it doesn't happen to everyone. |
Date: 12/6/2009 7:14:00 AM From Authorid: 22852 @}~~ I see faces, sometimes I have heard voices but mostly as I am falling asleep many faces flash before me, people I have never seen and when I try to concentrate on them they go away. |
Date: 12/6/2009 8:15:00 AM From Authorid: 23075 yes all the time. |
Date: 12/6/2009 9:12:00 AM From Authorid: 62722 Look into the "spirit people" and the "shadow people", your answer lies within. |
Date: 12/6/2009 9:40:00 AM From Authorid: 11097 YES! I hear this a lot and I used to think it had to do with falling asleep but I am not so sure anymore because I also feel like I'm being moved. Its weird... I wonder what it is? |
Date: 12/6/2009 11:59:00 AM From Authorid: 52746 Yeah, I don't know what it is. Once I heard, "Mum," which I ignored thinking it was in my head. It came again which I ignored. The third time I said, "What?" I sort of jumped up from the pillow and whirled towards the door expecting to see my youngest son there as it was his voice I heard. There was no-one there. That was creepy! Other times it's been my name spoken by a voice I don't recognise. Weird! |

Date: 12/6/2009 12:04:00 PM From Authorid: 52746 Oh, as well as voices I've heard noises. For instance, I thought I heard a window smash that I got up and explored the house. Another time I heard a loud bang. It is weird, isn't it? |

Yeah a few times I thought I heard a loud bang in my basement, and it seemed to sound real enough, so I went down to investigate and make sure nothing was there that shouldn't be there, lol. Turned out I didn't see anything unusual. Most often when I do hear voices when falling asleap its nonsense phrases like "put the shoes in the frying pan". Also it can be voices of different people, like a man will say something, then a woman. Almost like they are conversing? |
Date: 12/6/2009 8:06:00 PM From Authorid: 62679 Yes! This is so creepy when it happens! |

I have a friend who was severely beaten by her ex. She nearly died. She had to have reconstructive surgery on her face. Afterwards the doc said she has PTSD..Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She sees a therapist for this. One day she was telling me that he had asked her if she heard voices. She was afraid to tell him yes. I interrupted her and asked, when you lie down at night to try to sleep, do you hear voices. She said yes, how did I know. I told her I hear them too! Like a conversation going on, but not quite loud enough to distinguish what is being said. Then we both began to wonder what was going on. Funny thing is...I haven't experienced this since having my stroke. Weird, huh? |
Date: 2/22/2010 12:58:00 AM From Authorid: 7440 Like you feel a presence in the room while you are still asleep but you cant wake up and then when you do force yourself awake you see a strange translucent shape floating above you,or when you are asleep and you feel someone poke there finger right into your body,or you hear someone talking to you as you are asleep so you wake only to feel the presence still in the room,it is really strange, like you are physically feeling things yet as to first appearances there is noone else in the room.I can't explain it but it is really disturbing, the worst on i hate is dog attack drems where i physically feel the teeth going through my skin. |
Date: 8/10/2011 12:39:00 AM From Authorid: 64702 Oooh I've had stuff like that since I was a kid around the time I'd be about to fall asleep. It can be distressing sometimes. One I remember as a kid I was dreaming I think I was opening a door and all of a sudden a huge dog jumps out at me,and another I plugged something in and then KaThumpp! woke me up. Recently I dreamed I opened an oven door and then POOF!That when I woke up. I've also see writing on something or be reading, and have tried to prolong the state to make out what it says.Haven't had too much success.Danny3 |
Date: 5/30/2012 9:24:00 AM From Authorid: 7849 It's called Hypnagogic sleep. It's often auditory, but you can also hallucinate and see shadows and faces in front of you. Lots of times when people see "ghosts" at their bedside, it is this phenomenon that they are experiencing.. but during the day when they are awake, this is not the case. |
Date: 5/20/2013 12:24:00 PM From Authorid: 66755 I thought I was the only one! Or that I was crazy. Sometimes when I'm falling asleep, I'll hear vague, random conversations in my head as if there are others talking. |
