yes its so sad, i too was raised in a small town , very poor, but never had to go on the system , and you know what makes me madder is the high fuluting welfare workers sitting up there knowing darn well half of there clients arent in need of it , system stinks, but we cant stop it , good story though, eet  |

You never really know what someone's exact situation is.... appearances can be extremely deceiving. I know it's easy to sit on a high horse and spout about how annoying it is (been there, done that), but it's a bitter pill when the day comes that the help is needed (been there, done that, too!).... even if it is a real NEED. There will ALWAYS be people in the world who take advantage, just choose not to be one of them!  |

Diana, i can understand how you feel but this kind of thing happens all over the world not just with your neighbous.Does`nt the Government ripp you off ie. taxes here, taxes there, taxes everywhere.Does your employer not try to get more out of you, for the money he pays you.Are advertisers not trying to get at your money. This world is realistically " Dog eat Dog World."It may not be fair, but it is, none the less reality.Live & let Live. t2.  |

Ok all is true,but I can't help the way I feel,Its just that I am sick and tired of working my butt off,struggleing to pay the bills,take care of my children I chose to have,and hen we have toles alegally in our country haveing free babys and my paying for them.... Diana  |

I agree with what Mercury said. Right now you are doing very well on your won, but what if you loose your job, get sick, rent gets raised, or your kids get sick? Then you to will need the assistance. It is very hard to go grocery shopping when you don't have a car. We have to take a taxi every week becasue the nearest grocery store is 5 miles. That is $15+ here one way. I have family who come over and visit and then leave me $20 to take my family out for dinner. Know what I do, I take my family out to dinner. It is a gift to my family from theres and my children deserve a nice night out eventhough we are poor. Maybe instead of complaining you can do something to help. Maybe offer to drive them to the grocery store or deliver there food to save them money. If you know of any GOOD job openings politley suggest them and reccommend them. Don't sit back and critize, help change the situation.  |

I saw on a tv show some of the people on welfare, there was this one lady who had 3 kids. She didn't have a job and about every week she had been taking her kids to the movie theater, she said "Well they need some intertainment." She was a good example of some of the people on welfare. I'm not saying every one who is on welfare is a slob, but a lot of them are. And the low lifes who are usually have children, that they don't feed. That is just sad. And then other times I hear of people who really need it, but can't and sometimes they are so poor they have to eat dog food. (<>..<> Alien  |

I agree ! I dont think its fair either as seems they base things on income and well heck if ya think about it once insurance,taxes,house payment ,utlities and such comes out of our familys incomes what do we have for food and such yet they folks that get to ride the system as you say get these metro housing where they pay your rent,budget on utlities then at the end of year what they dont pay there is another program I forget what its called ,then food stamp for there food,then medical card for full coverage.....heck lets not even talk about the gas for cars and insurance they save from not going to work nor the time spend from the family to support them..Your right its not fair and yes there dress a child and share a christmas for the other little added bonuses I know what your saying as we support our own yet I think there should be help for needy yet not to be used as crutch come on lets get it together and struggle likr the working family thats paying for the funds to be there ..I dont blame those on the system near as much as I blame the system and all the funds they waste.When are they going to look and see that the avrage family thats working is making it alot harder then then ones they help so well thats said to be poor.Great post just dont hold your breath it changes anytime soon if at all but hey its nice to see were not alone in our thoughts. Birdfeeder -In my town they get free transportation ...really ...Yet I agree they do need some good times or free time to enjoy but dont we all? Here in my town thats another thing I know someone that gets 12 hours a week free daycare assistance so she dont get overstressed and gets a break!! WOW wheres the line LOL come on lets see the whole picture as I know to to to many personaly that tell me and laugh at there funds and such they score as they say!! I dont mean to down any that get whats really needed but come on since when does a mother you know get 12 hours mommy time? Family Matters |

Ok so thanks for your replies but alot of you don't get what I am saying, Ok yes it is the SYSTEM,and to the one who wanted me to find them a job! There are jobs out there anywhere you look,Ok there is McDonalds, its a freaking job isn't it or are you too qualified?People are always looking for people to clean their houses!I am not saying public assistance is wrong its the abusers, ok!I am not saying don't go out to dinner every once and awhile, I am not saying don't get help if you need it,I am saying I am sick and tired of the abusers and the ones who do need it can't get it because the system is broke,look at all the aliens from other countrys comeing to the US makeing money takeing all the jobs they work cheap and get their medicare and have their children for free,in this country.Child care is free,to them, so they send their kids to a daycare center for free, and baby sit other kids to make money while their own are in day care!And the state this country is in when it comes time for me to collect my social security the state will be out of money and I am gonna lose out! Because of the extreamly lazy,and abuseive freeloaders, get over it you say,I suggest you just think about it!!! Diana |

Oh my god I know what you're talking about. When I was in high school, I was a cashier at this supermarket.....and I could always tell the people who were going to pay with food stamps because they'd have at LEAST a cart and a half full of all kinds of crap. I'm talking steaks, candy, whatever. They ate better than I did. It always amazed me. I'm in college now....and I'm kinda wishing I had something like that to get some food.....=) -Starfly*  |

Free transportation? I wish I had that. In bus passes I spend $100 a month alone on bus passes, not including Train passes. My children go to the movies, but I work like crazy for the little extra money. My daycare is partially paid for by student grants and loans, but that only pays a fraction of the cost and my son can only go when I am in classes and can't go while I am at work. Ever try to get a job at McD'? It is minimum wage, horrible hours while children can't go to daycare, and you are lucky to get 20 hours a week. It is almost impossible to find a job if you don't have verifiable experience. I have worked at different jobs as assistant managers and since then all have closed, changed owners or mangment and no one can vaerify my experience. GUess what, I lok everyday and can't find a job. Not even minimum wage jobs, because I have no so called work experience, eventhough I am a certified trainer and assistant manager for 2 big restraunt chains. Welfare id there to help those who need it. Not everything you see is the whole picture. Learn to open your eyes and be more understanding and compassionate for your fellow man. I sware Im not kidding thats why it amazes me so much....... so yes when I said lets see the whole picture well I was seeing the whole picture from all those whom I know in our town on assistance and all the jobs I see yet so many claim theres no work...I mean and these sites that the job reform sites are saying they worry about what happens if these people loose there jobs after there no longer on system?well ok let me see ....hummmm same thing all us that wasn't on it have to do get the newspaper get up out of bed and go out in the morning and fill out as many as it takes until yep you got it ya find a job ..I know its hard to get a good job but something is better then nothing and if its really that hard to get a job that will pay you enough to work then check this out... call the family job services and tell them you are having hard time seeking the right job and heard that they train for jobs even have access funds that pay for you to goto school Im told really and well then you can see what type of work to get trained for....and make it one that pays well ...I hope you dont think Im bashing people who need I down those who live on it and dont use the means to change it ok...Hey guess what Im not kidding call if ya dont believe me but in my town I know SEVERAL that got a car(used)valued at $2,000,brand new washer and dryer and table and chairs not kidding ...I guess when they got the cars they had to work for 1 or was it three months its one of those so for awhile they had to use the free transportation they provide and then you can get your own car..well now guess so many would just work that long then quit so now they changed it ..now the car is setup where you get 2,000 credit towards a purchace of a car from a car lot and you have to get loan threw dealer on balance ..guess to hope you keep working to pay??but still there trying to finaly get them to work and when they say they cant there getting all kinds of bonuses to help them..Good luck ~Family Matters~ |
