As I watch the rain that is quietly falling now
Slowly the tears began to fall from my eyes
Looking at the lightening that is so far away
I think of the distance between you and I

Making a path across the sky so vividly it is seen
Brightening the dark night with its brilliance each time
Just as the way your love has brightened my life
With the words spoken from your heart following a path to mine

Through misty eyes I think of you, and your loving ways
Tears of sadness, wishing you and I could be near
Yet tears of joy, for the happiness knowing you brings
Feeling the warmth brought by your love is so dear

You mean the world to me, a feeling that time will not change
There is a very special place that you hold within my heart
No one else will ever share that place my dear friend
For you captured my heart completely from the very start

I will always think of you as I journey along life's way,
With each rain that falls from the skies above
Tears of sadness, and tears of joy will often come
