Date: 3/12/2001 12:29:00 PM From Authorid: 3125 In Gen 2:1..This chapter is a quick review of what God had already done...So the heavens,(all things we can see outside our immediate atmosphere and all things we do see withn our atmosphere)and all their host(all that they contain)and the earth were finished and all the host of them..All things were finished, brought to a completion..No permanant change has ever been made in the course of the world..There has been no new species of animals, all we see or have discovered is or has been of an already existing species of one or another.. There has been no law of nature ever been repealed or added to....In v 2.."God "rested" on the seventh day"..God didn't rest as we would from our labors,(read Isaiah 408)but God ceased from working..God did this for a reason..He sat up the first Sabbath day in which mankind was to rest from their physical labors and to pay honor, reverence and to remember their Creator. He ceased from His work as an example to mankind..Sabbath day is as old as creation..It is a wise and a benefical law for mankind..Too much phyical labor for man or animal could bring about a premature death also mankind has a spiritual need and if neglect, which it is obvious that many do today, God would soon be totally forgotten, therefore God sat aside a day to be remember in which mankind was to center their attentions on their Creator..Sincerely Rusure |
Date: 3/12/2001 2:01:00 PM From Authorid: 11240 Hi, Pam. I never got around to commenting on #6, partly because I felt I had already commented on those passages in all my other responses! I am curious what "These are the GENERATIONS of the heaven and earth when they were created . . ." refers to. I see RUSURE's response, but I'm still not sure I have a clear understanding. God Bless. |
Date: 3/12/2001 2:22:00 PM From Authorid: 28717 One book I read explained that if you look at how a unforested field developes in a growth cycle you will see 1st grass, then herbs with seeds, then trees yeilding fruit that contain the seed for regeneration(genesis ch 1). Then in ch 2 God explains that this is the generations ( he is saying this is the cycles that will take place when rains begin and man appointed to care for the earth. But as man had yet been formed the cycles had yet begun, earth had water in itself ( next it tells about the mist coming from the earth and then it rains ( just like science says!) Does this make any sense to anybody? Do you suppose this is why gensis, generations, regenerations have a common root ( pun) word (pun again) Doxiemom |

Well, I probably pick things apart too much. My oldest son is very intelligent and he tells me I do. lol... Ok, for one thing, I totally agree with Rusure about the Sabbath day. It was made for man, not man for the sabbath as the Bible says in Matthew. It was made so that man could get the rest he needs and also would set aside time for worship. Ok, Deb ask about the Bible refering to the generations. I get the impression this means the course in which it was done. A cycle of events, or circle of events. I think this is how we know that the second chapter is a more detailed review. I could be wrong but that's the impression I get. Let me ask you allt this, do you get the impression after reading this first part that the days it spoke of in the first chapter were more than 24 hr. periods??? I do and this is why. For one thing, look at the statement "in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens." Obviously it was not done in ONE day but is referring to this time period as the day. hmmm. Also, using the word generation usually denotes a longer period of time. Note too the way the 5th. verse is worded. "And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground." hmmm. It sounds like this is speaking of a longer time to me. Maybe I'm missing something here. Also, later in chp.2 it talks about Adam naming all the animals. It COULD have been done in 24 hours but it would have been a tough thing. Nothing is impossible with God though. I'm just wondering... Dear Doxiemom, yes it does make sense. I hope you will stay with us in this study... It's not going to be an easy one though and I can't promise any of us will have 100% accurate answers... |
Date: 3/12/2001 7:25:00 PM From Authorid: 3125 Pam..It appears to me that the second chapter was written at a later time and that is what is being refered to in v 4 "In the day(in the past)when the Lord God made the earth and the heavens"..In ..The way I see this verse 5 as saying is,"And every plant in the field before it was in the ground" means that God created these things..They didn't have their start from a seed which was planted in a field..They first things were created, not planted and grown from a seed.. Ok, I see what you are saying Rusure. You always have some good ideas. So you don't get the impression in reading this that it could have been a longer time??? |

Sunday School #7 The Seventh Day Of Creation! Question? what happen on the Seventh Day of Creation? Our Father Rested! Genesis 2"And On The (Seventh Day) God Ended His Work Which He Had Made; And He (Rested) On The (Seventh Day) From All His Work Which He Had Made. But lets back up first so we all can get a better look at the actions of Our Father. When i looked up the word "Host" in the Strong's Concordance of the Bible it says "a mass of persons waiting upon". So I ask, a mass of person waiting upon what? Waiting to pass through to this earth age? To be born in to a flesh body,to make his or her mind up to whom he or she will follow. Was there an age befor this one we now live in? Is it our Father plan in action to see who would choose light and who will choose darkness. Life verses Death!~ I remember reading in the Book of Proverbs Chapter 8 where wisdom speake, saying "I Was With God From Before The Foundation Of The Earth! Then again in the Book of Job Chapter 38,where God was talking to poor old Job after he had listen to men The Father said was with out knowledge from Chapter 2: verse 11 all the way to chapter 37. Then The Father began to speak to Job HimSelf, Saying " Where Were You Job When I Set This Earth? Now that certainly wasn't at the beginning of this earth age, we now live in. It has to be a prior. Of course Job did not know, and did not answere. But God did. He said "When The Morning Stars Sang Together And All The Sons Of God Shouted For Joy (Job 38) That's the Host I believe, yes you and me, all of us we were all with The Father once and was very Happy too~! All created at one time. A very, very long time ago. And was very Happy because we were with Him! Our real father, before the fall of Satan. Also remember The Book Of Psalms Chapter 104 verse 1-5(the Psalm of praise to God for His Cration and Providence). There it speaks of the same thing. God's creations all of us. "Who Maketh His Angles Spirits". In other words, the angles were made Spiritual Bodies (versev4). So you see, I believe that when God said "Let's Make Man In Our Own Image", He meant a great deal more than that which is taught in our churches today. Also read IIPeter Chapter 3:5-9 and don't forget to read Jeremiah 43 as well as Isaiah 45:18, my favorite, where it documents that God did not make anything void or with out form. It became that way. God has never made anything dark. sin makes things dark. And if there was no one or nothing before or after God then I ask where and when did the darkness appear? I know most of you know that answer if you have studied the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 28 and other places in the Bible. Remember The Father said that He is the Alpha And The Omega, The Beginning And The Ending, Which is, and Which Was, And Which is to Come The Almighty. There was none before Him or after Him so. Again where did the darkness come from. Not from God thats for sure. It had to have been a world age,not world, same world just a different age, an age before this one. beause how would you explain the insident that happen between God and Satan in the Book of Ezekiel when Satan was perfect in his ways...verse 15. he sure wasnt perfect in this age. We never known satan to be any good in this flesh age. So it had to be an age before this one. Something divine happened in the world that was and things changed...and it sure did't happen after God created this earth age. it had to had happen before. As for verse 3 "And God Blesed The Seventh Day And Sanctified It: Because That In It He Had Rested From All His Work Which God Created And Made". Yes Father rest from all that work of rejuvenation replenishing the earth. He looks it all over and Said It was very Good! you can't replenish something if if had never been in the first place. verse 4 " These Are The Generations Of The Heaven(s) And of the Earth When They Were Created, In The Day That The LORD God Made The Earth And The Heaven(s)". In other words, Father looked over all He had made, all the racses of people, which will produce kind after kind, as the plants and the animals, to replenish the earth. Oh how beutiful it most have been to see all the perfect work.. Shining through from all that had happen in the world that was, After the overthrow of Satan's attempt to over take The throne. And many stars(son's of God following after). Did you know that the number eight(8) in biblical mathematics is new beginning? Yep, His plan of salvation has began.. This is our second chance...belive it or not... verses 5 and 6 "And Every Plant Of The Field Before It Was In The Earth, And Every Herb Of The Field Before It Grew: For The LORD God Had Not Caused It To Rain Upon The Earth, And There Was Not "A Man" To Till The Groound. But There Went Up a Mist From The Earth, And Watered The Whole Face Of The Ground. In other words, The Father caused the night dew to water the earth. To kept it until farmer Adam... Now spiritually the ground is us... We are clay, our Father is the potter. The one formed on The Eight Day was for a divine purpose. There was no husbandmen, no farmer to work the ground. The word "till" means "Work" to be of service to God! So Our Father rested On The Seventh Day....Then On The Eight Day......He... to be continued- Sunday School Lesson #8 teachermorales |
Date: 4/2/2001 6:39:00 PM From Authorid: 32287 in actuality, the reason for the two creation stories is the two different writers. the first one is the yahwist (i think) and the second is the priestly writer. the basic point of these stories is not to show us how the world was ACTUALLY created, just how God created order in a chaotic world. |
