Hi everybody!!! This is the final part to our discussion of Genesis chapter 1. I will be the first to admit that this has been a difficult discussion. I have really enjoyed everyone's imput though... This part will be just a little bit longer than the others because we are finishing up...

GENESIS 1:26-31

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replinish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

And god saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning wer the sixth day.

Date: 3/8/2001 9:45:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 13354    I would like to add the first comments this time. Many times
in reading the first chp. of Genesis, people really get confused,
especially when they compare it to chp. 2... Please keep in mind that
chp. 1 is an QUICK OVERVIEW of the order of Creation. Chp. 2 goes into
more details... This will help you in understanding it... A couple of things
you may want to take note of here is the words REPLINISH, SUBDUE, DOMINION.
Also, take note of the fact that originally it sounds like they were vegetarians...

Date: 3/8/2001 1:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 27678    I think they were vegetarians, and possibly the eating of the fruit was actually the killing of an animal for food. Perhaps Satan decieved them by making them think their sustinance was coming from an animal and thus began the worship of the "bull". As far as God making us in His own image, I think this only means that we have two eyes, a nose, legs, arms, so forth and therefore God is in the image of a human being instead of an animal or human-animal mixture, as were some of the other religions of ancient times.
Date: 3/8/2001 2:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 19092    Hello Pam, I will comment later again, promise. I will add now, that it is true, man was a vegetarian in the begining. Meat was not sanctioned by God as part of mans diet until the great flood and there were no plants left. Then it became necessary to add meat(flesh) inorder to survive. This also is part of the explanation for why some animals were taken on the ark in greater numbers than two. they were at sea for the better part of a year, after the great rain, how many rabbits do you think there where, LOL. I'm just kidding, God also controlled their reproduction. Now go read my latest poem in the poetry section and reply!!! I have to put them in the poetry section because this section is not formated right for poety. I thought about putting a post here to point to it like I did yesterday but thought I would use your story instead and see if that works.
Date: 3/9/2001 8:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 3125    All God's creation was finished now except man..God was now ready to add the finishing touch.."Let us make man" seems to show such an important distinction part of creation..Now comes a part of creation, the formation of a creature, who was to be God's representive, clothed with authority and would rule all things on earth as a visible head and a monarch of the world..The Godhead three ruled as the head in heaven as One..Man was to rule the earth as One..What image and likeness was God referring to?..Not as flesh,God isn't flesh..Not in his intellect..The devil and his angels are far superior to mankind. God's purpose for mankind was to create a ruler with lesser qualities of knowledge, righteousness, and holiness to represents Him on earth..God made man upright..God made man with knowledge,a conscious to know the difference between right and wrong,as He knows, but with a lesser amount. He made man to have morals,to be righteous and holy, (Eccles 79,Col 3:10 and Eph 44,etc..)..In all previous creations,God would stop and view His created results and saw it was good..When God had finished all creation with mankind as it's righteous, holy ruler,He saw everything that He had made, all answering the plan which He had conceived..God says for the first time in v 31 said.."And it was very* good"..
