I heard this one last year by an old man who was fire fighting up north in summer: "I was fifteen the first time i had gone to fight a fire. They would let fifteen year olds then. Me and two others had gotten seprated from our group, the smoke was thick, the fire was just over the hills, we could hear it hissing and moaning. I remember ashes and sparks falling on my yellow coveralls. We thought was were save there, then the wind turned and began to chase us. She sure can run fast when the wind feeds her. I saw her, like the hand of God, roaring agaist the bush and our dugouts like they were nothing. The others dropped there gear and ran. I too was going to run, I knew if i didn't i would die. The others were older and moved fast, we lost eachother in the smoke. The fire was coming faster then we could run. I had fallen behind, my leg got caught up on a willow birch root. The smoke was soo thick now that i couldn't see my feet. I tried to feel my way down, but the smoke was making me weak. I could feel the heat from her blowing on my face. My skin felt like it was melting. Then the smoke cleared around me and i saw a beautiful young woman, she was only half dressed. She turned and ran. I got up and followed. What seems like days, i followed, i could hear her still chasing me, burning my back and making my hair smell like burnt feathers. I wanted to catch that girl. My lungs hurt then i saw it. The most beautiful thing in the world. THE LAKE. Stertching far and wide it was the most wonderful sight in my life. I went into the water. And swam to a island, the next day. The party picked me up. They say the other two men had died. I was sorry to lose my friends. I asked about the girl but they didn't know anything about her. I was thank-ful to her for my life. But i think i was chasing her becuase she was halk naked. hahaha"
I put this in urban legends because the man who told us was the cook and he probably never seen the front of a fire in all his life.
