I live only about 60 miles from the Hornet spook light and know a lot about it's habits. Never believed it was gas because it seems to have some sort of intelligence such as traveling the road instead of just anywhere. It also sticks to one of two roads..the main spook light road or one just north of it. If it were someone playing a prank, then they would have to be over 100 years old, as it was seen by the early settlers in the area. It also knows to jump above an on-coming car and then settle back down to the road. If it were just senseless gas, it wouldn't go out when noise is made. My wife and I were parked on the main S.L. road one night, and were unsuccessful in seeing anything. Finally, before driving home ,we decided to try the road 1 mile north. We sat there quietly, and about 12:30 AM, it lit up behind our vehicle with a pale green light. As soon as I got out to try to photograph it,it immediately went out to be seen no more. It was as if it was "checking us out". How it changed my life:No change, but I believe it links to the spiritual. I have tried to put a rhyme to it but cannot.
