I don’t really know why I did it...but I ran up to Jesse and gave him a hug. He returned the embrace, with sort of this goofy, surprised grin though. It was weird…but for a moment he seemed like an innocent child. A little boy getting his first kiss. I shrugged it off though.
"You guys were awesome!" I told him, they actually really were.
"Thanks" He said as his hand reached out to hold mine. "Hey, how old did you say you were?"
"19, why?"
"Well, I was hoping you'd like to go out to a club with me. Go dancing?"
"I would love to! But, let me call my friend Michelle, first" This was almost too easy…already a date?
"Okay Anna, I'll meet you by the dressing rooms, the payphones are right over there." He pointed down a hallway that led to the phones. I gave him a little smile and walked to the phones, swaying my hips as I went.
As I searched my pockets for a quarter, I heard footsteps from behind me. I turned around…but saw no one. Weird. Turning back to the pone I dial Michelle's cell number. After 4 rings she finally answered.
"Hello?"
"Hey Michelle, guess who is gonna win our bet."
"Anna! You got backstage! Bobbi took you backstage!" I pulled the phone away from my ear...Michelle was just a tad overexcited.
"Yes...and I got a date with Jesse."
"YOU WHAT!" My head seriously hurt as of now. Michelle was screaming loud enough for the entire theater to hear. I hope no one did though, I turned around just to make sure.
"Michelle, you have to lower your voice, if anyone hears you or me, this is ruined."
"Sorry...but remember, you have to get to the hotel room and ::cough cough::, otherwise I win." I sighed, she was right, that WAS the bet.
"I know, I know. I'll do it Michelle, so be prepared to lose." I paused for a second. "Michelle...have we even thought for a second, just thought about what we're doing?"
"No...that would make us feel guilty."
"Yeah, exactly. We are doing something WRONG."
"Anna, are you backing down? Cuz if you are, well then, you may want to start saving up money"
At that moment I hung up. Michelle may have been my best friend, but sometimes she was just heartless. Then again, I was just as heartless to be doing what I was doing. I stared down at the floor as a trudged my way back to Jesse...but as I left the phone corridor, I heard footsteps again. I turned to see Bobbi walking towards the phones, his back to me. Had he heard my conversation?
I took a deep breath and walked back to where Jesse was. I threw my hands over his eyes.
"Guess who!"
"Hmmm...how about the most beautiful girl around."
I lowered my voice into a gruff sound. "No, guess again." He then flipped around and tickled my sides. I couldn't help but start laughing, but then I tickled him right back. We must have spent twenty minutes laughing our hearts out on the floor until he finally stood up.
"Babes, we really gotta get going if you wanna go dancing." He reached down his hand to lift me up.
"But Jesse, I think I've fallen, and I can't get up!" I sent him my most innocent smile. He laughed.
"Well, then I guess I'll have to carry you." He gently picked up my body from the floor, as if it was weightless, and began walking to outside. Carefully, he opened the door so not to hit me against anything. Then, as we reached to car, something amazing happened.
Before placing me into the passenger seat, Jesse gazed into my eyes and I into his. Then he kissed me; he really kissed me, with all emotion. I pulled away; it was too real for me. I couldn't let him see that though, so instead I said.
"Wait until later Jesse, and maybe you'll get something better." He must have believed me, because he placed me down and smiled before getting into the driver's seat.
