A Stranger Rides....by StormTracker5

Heat waves dance across the dry land
Giving the appearance of water in the sand
Lizards running nimble on their feet
Stopping upon a rock to take in the heat

Hawk moving in circles through the air
Bringing small creatures quite a scare
In the distance a mountain range
Summer storm forming, not so strange

Taking a small puff on his cigar
Knowing the next town isn't that far
Black hat sitting high atop his head
On his hips, two six shooters bringing many dread

You could see his story in his eyes
One of terror and often times lies
Unshaven and hair left un-combed
None that mattered, he preferred to be alone

Never seeking trouble, but it was always at hand
It didn't matter as he crossed the dry land
Thunder rolled just off to the west
As he continued towards town for a rest

Forcing his horse onward with great speed
To visit the saloon then rest was his need
Thundering hooves were the only sound
As the rain began to dot the ground
