When I lived in my parents house, whenever we were in the basement we always heard footsteps upstairs. Sometimes, we would even hear the front door open and shut. We would think it was my dad returning from work and no one would be there when we looked for him. My parents still live there and continue to hear the footsteps and an unknown guest enter through the front door. You might have a ghost, but I wouldn't worry about it. I recently moved into a new house and we have herad footsteps on the second floor, machines that were broke and unplugged click on infront of us. I personally have seen someone run by my room but only like from the legs down. Even once when we cook out our grill started jumping and popping. Water in our bath tubs cut on and off even before we moved in when the water wasn't on.!! We ALWAYS joke that a ghost lives in our house, but we can never be sure. I totally believe that what you heard could of been a ghost.  |

| Date: 4/22/2001 1:29:00 PM this story was pretty good i want to say that i have been throgh this to. my parents were fighting so my mom and i moved into a the house were my mom grew up. we lived with my aunt and my cousin I had to sleep in the same bed room with my cousin and had to sleep in the bed were my grandma had died well one day we decided to do a spell to make my grandma come alive again well that night are room was freezing and both of us woke up with brusies and cuts and when we were home alone we herd crying and footsteps in the bed room my cousin and i were so scared we wouldn't sleep for days and we wouldn't stay home alone we wouldn't even use the bathrooms mycousins was really scared that she even tried killing herself but we moved and we all live much happier now hoping that that will never happen again |

Interesting story, You should have checked outside for footprints in the snow that didn't belong to You or any family members. That would have at least told You if You were dealing with a break and enter case or a case of a ghost. Incidently, I have no idea how I ended up on this story. I was on the phone with Sixgun and clicked on my stories, my internet connection had lapsed and it had to reconnect and when it made the connection to the internet this story came up. How cool. I read about the mystery of this author and typed in 00000 in the search author Id# box and it took me here. It is strange that you only relpied twice and that you are still getting replies since 1999. I hope nothing happened to you and your family after you posted and replied???? Causing you not to be able to respond and solve this mystery???? I thought I read this and replied to it before when I first joined but there is no evidence of this???? It really isn't all that great of a mystery. When USM was first being brought to light we had to submit our stories via email and we didn't have to give our names or an alias so we didn't have an author id. The real mystery is why when you click on your stories it shows this one   |

And the comment posts without author id's is because we were so wicked awesome we could be anon. in almost anything in the beginning stages. If you look you will also notice some of the older author id's say they have been here a certain amount of time and there will be another member with a higher number saying they have been here the same amount of time That was a meltdown though but still it's funny |
