"Oh, Leigh!" Brian called, rushing into his Marietta, Georgia home. He had entered from the sliding-patio door, which connected the kitchen and the sidewalk, which emptied into the garage. His precious Beamer was parked inside. His arms were loaded with bags. His wife looked up from her script. He dropped the bags onto the kitchen counter.
"Hi, hon," she warmly smiled. "What are you so happy about and where have you been all day?"
"I'm just in one of those rare happy-for-no-reason days," Brian replied. He approached his wife, who was leaning against the kitchen island. He wrapped his arms around her waist. She softly giggled, taking her reading glasses off.
"I can see that," Leighanne said, as Brian kissed her cheek repeatedly. "But you didn't answer my second question."
"I, my darling, was out shopping," Brian sang, taking her delicate hands in his. He started to dance, humming a slow song. He waltzed her around the kitchen, expertly avoiding the utilities. This path, his personal "dancing path", was one he had taken many times before.
"Obviosuly," Leighanne stated, eyeing the grocery bags. "Why?"
"Because, I planned something very special for us, sweety," Brian gushed, dipping her over the arm of a comfortable-looking recliner. Leighanne's warm blue eyes lit with excitement.
"Really?" she inquired, jumping onto the chair. Brian skidded to a halt in front of her, throwing his hands onto the arms of the chair. He leaned toward her. His face was inches from hers. "What?"
"Well, I bought some food. We haven't had an old-fasioned, home-cooked Kentucky meal in awhile. And, I bought you a sexy little black dress to wear at dinner," Brian whispered seductively. Leighanne wiggled her eyebrows.
"Sounds great, Bri," she kissed him on the lips. Brian's eyes sparkled happily. "Is there a special occassion for my favorite foods to be served at?"
"No. No special reason. It's just that I never get to see you, and I never get to tell you how much I really love you," Brian replied. He pulled on Leighanne's hands. She jumped up. "Now, I want you to go upstairs, read your script, do whatever. But, at six, I want you ready in your sexy little black dress. Because, I'll be serving dinner, then."
"Wow, that gives you two hours to cook. This must be a big home-cooked meal," Leighanne commented. Brian nodded seriously. "Great, I haven't had Kentucky Khilli in forever."
"Who said anything about Kentucky Khilli?" Brian innocently asked. Leighanne tapped him on the nose. "Oh, fine. I suppose we could have Kentucky Khilli. Just because I know how much you love it."
"Thanks," she smiled, throwing her arms around him. "Is anyone else coming over?"
"Nope, it's just you, me, and..." Brian trailed off. He pointed up toward the master bedroom. "Barry White."
"Barry White?" Leighanne grinned. "Thank God we sent Shannon to summer camp. Sounds like a plan, Mr.Happy."
"Great, because that CD is getting dusty now that you've hit 37," Brian teased. Leighanne hautily threw her hands to her hips.
"Boy, I am better at 37 then you'll ever be!" she cried, snapping her fingers. Brian doubled over, laughing hysterically. He wiped the tears out of his eyes.
"I was just joking!" he crowed. Leighanne wrapped her arms around Brian's waist, then kissed him softly on the lips. "See you at six, my fair lady?"
