Tell Me (What I Already Know)

If I had only known that it was the last time.
That I could see your smile, I would have made sure I had memorized.
I have no pictures now and I can only close my eyes.
To see you again when I never thought we'd say goodbye.
I won't try.... Try to understand the way that it hurt slipping from my hands.
I won't cry.... It's just the way that our lives go.
The fault is found in my own heart.
So, there's no need to tell me what I already know.

I know I could have left but you would have followed me.
I know I could have died, and you would have still talked to me.
You could have flown away, and I could have only remembered you.
I would have let you down because I would have never seen it through.
I won't try.... Try to understand the way that it hurt slipping from my hands.
I won't cry.... It's just the way that our lives go.
The fault is found in my own heart.
So, there's no need to tell me what I already know.

When you held me, I felt like I had a home.
But you turned your face and like that we were gone.
Ain't that just the way that hearts are broken now?
You made me believe in a dream, but we just had to burn it down.
I won't try.... Try to understand the way that it hurt slipping from my hands.
I won't cry.... It's just the way that our lives go.
The fault is found in my own heart.
So, there's no need to tell me what I already know.
