I'll assume that the JOTW was posted late today because you were out practicing your arson but there is no need to apologize to anyone because you gave it your 120%. ![]() |

You are entitled to assume all that's relevant to you. After all, I will not judge you for participating as a Girl Scout back in your formative years. ![]() |

I was never a member of that organization. But please continue with your experience selling cookies at shopping centers while wearing a wig and uniform. ![]() |

Isn't that awful? kronk---What? "L.D."---That bear laying a guilt trip on our "Hey Larry." kronk---Yeah, dog. That is pretty rough, and for all those years, too. "L.D."---Sorta knocks the wind out of your sails, doesn't it? kronk---Heavy, dog. Like windless, waveless and surrounded by seaweed. "L.D."---I need shrimp! We have any shrimp? kronk---Nope. We're fresh out of shrimp. "L.D."---RATS !!! kronk---We do have rats. "L.D."---Ugh! ![]() |

...kronk...it's just that some folks are blatantly stupid and lack the ability to think laterally, not able to see "cause and effect" Ask me how I know this. ![]() |

I told you that the man was a realist. "L.D."---Dig it. Sometimes, you just have to tell "it" the way it really is. kronk---Yes. I'm sure that most of us wished it wasn't so, but the sad fact is: There is an alarmingly high percentage of woodpeckers in the family of man. Case in point: Juan Diego's daughter's coming of age party. "L.D.---Oh, man! That's an excellent example! I think that you should definitely share that with the folks! kronk---I guess. We are, afterall, discussing fire safety....and, aren't lots of folk interested in "karma," too? "L.D."---Sure! Allow me? kronk---Please do, dog. "L.D."---So, Juan Diego is the kind of neighbor that people wish for; quiet, respectful, unobtrusive, helpful...So, old Juan spends like all week getting ready for his daughter's "sweet sixteen party." The grass gets mowed, hedges trimmed, big white canopy in the yard, easy listening music, set at background volume. Picture perfect day, everything going swell UNTIL!! The neighbor directly upwind from the festivities sets fire to an 18 foot high and 30 foot wide pile of green wood. kronk---Yep, I remember. The smoke displaced the prevalent atmosphere, everyone began choking and we all had to evacuate. Blew the party away. "L.D."---That was awful...and then, the next week the guy that started the fire..His barn burned down. kronk---Yep....karma is a son of a gun. ![]() |

RE: Fire should be respected Kronk, I totally agree. I was born and raised in the S. California/ Los Angeles suburb during the 1960's to the mid 1970's. And keeping in mind that area is part of a desert type area not far from Mojave......and there has been fire problems along with natural disasters, like earthquakes and mudslides from excessive rainfall etc. But even my father taught us when we went camping in the High Sierra Mountains to be mindful of campfires and how to douse the fire out with water from the local stream or river. Stupid people have never learned how actions have consequences. ![]() |
