Ever carve names into a tree? kronk---Nope. I am a tree hugger. I'd never do that to a tree. Now, I've carved lots of stuff onto school desks and wood frame buildings. "L.D."---Hypocrite! kronk---Ugh! |

...kronk...did you ever go back for the first day of school after summer vacation to find that your classroom had been blessed with all new desks just waiting for someone to introduce artwork to that otherwise blank canvas? I don't think the teachers were too fond of my creativity but a person needs to express. I do have to wonder why new desks were being made, right through the sixties and into the early seventies, with inkwells. Did someone foresee a resurgence in quill pen usage? |

...I thought I was being really romantic years ago when I decided to make breakfast in bed for the woman I was with at the time. Everything was going swimmingly at first until the griddle spilled bacon grease on the sheets and the mattress caught fire. She left me for a fireman. I won't be doing that again. |

Hekler What a flashback! In fourth grade, I didn't know about "engraving" desks, yet. I was so fond of my desk, in third grade homeroom, that on the second day of school, I was apprehended moving my old desk into my new homeroom. (I thought of that desk as my own personal property.) "They" got a good laugh and actually took a desk to replace mine. My third grade desk a beautiful carving of a duck. "L.D."---Yeah, you always were kinda' weird about ducks. kronk---I always wished I could have been born with webbed feet. "L.D."---Ugh! |

RE: The snarky comments regarding the JOTW being " dropped " early on Saturdays..etc.. First of all, I'm not retired from working as of yet. Secondly, you're accusing my well known attempts at offering fun by means of humor, then retreating to a bunker are nothing more than a smear campaign. I work alternate weekends and little to no time fir responding to your baseless comments that are no more relevant than blaming leprechauns for electing Trump for Autocrat. |

Hey Larry If I might offer a tiny bit of advice concerning "retirement." Make sure that you have something to latch on to, once the new wears off. I was all for lying in bed and reading, like Ernest Hemingway. My associate stated that was such a silly idea, and that I couldn't retire because the entire eastern seaboard of the United States of America was depending on me for their supply of blue swimming crab. "L.D."---Boy, mother sure got to you, man. By the way, where is she? kronk---Last I heard, she was camped out at a casino in Vegas. She sent me a text message that read: "Catch more crab!" "L.D."---Ugh! |
