Venice sinking under the sea,
Much like the Atlantis of old,
Crumbling foundation and raising flood
Point to watery grave below.
Prominent politicians in denial
Of this climate change warming blight,
Dismiss this theory as non-viable,
While Venice sinks out of sight.
The Dome of St Mark's Basilica
May still shine in its underwater grave,
Rialto Bridge will grace that aquarium,
There will be nothing left to save.
What about the plaza and noble people
Will legends of these souls persist,
As the folklore of brave Atlantis,
Or just disappear in a historical mist?
