Two
After a couple of weeks with a lot of pleasant conversations, confusing rules and what seemed to be extreme and severe cabin fever, I was finally allowed to take a tour of the town. Of course I had a escort in the form of the sheriff .
Graham Winters I found out had only recently joined this position had been quiet helpful with any questions I would have . Also with only a appitite of donuts and constinously cups of either tea or coffee I was looking forward to something new.
Andersonville I found out was a farming as well as a Hunting and Fishing enviroment. With most of the town's income coming from those forms of jobs and hobby types involving the local populace.
Upside to being here was the nice and quiet atmosphere outside of the rooster's 6 am morning alarm system that would take a lot of time to get use to especially if you were use to non stop traffic .
Downside was the stormy weather which would make the ground muddy and disgusting to walk on but seeing how it couldn't be helped I had no reason to complain.
The town itself had a variety of shops a couple of diners and nice welcoming park where someone could sit with a good book and have a little peace.
After the tour was finished Graham who insisted I call him by his given name made our way into Diane's a sort of southern eatery but old fashioned complete with green and white tiled floors and walls covered with various plants and local art from everywhere.
This was the sort of place that would serve the entire menu all day but would only open for 4 days a week . The smell of hamburgers along side eggs and bacon ran through my nostrils and it was all heavenly.
After finding a booth to sit and placing our orders from a young waitress , he a fried pork chop with baked potato and myself a grilled shrimp salad with garlic bread on the side with both milk and beer respectively we started discussing everything from the history of the town and how it was founded.
It had only been here since the late 1970's but it wasn't til the 1990's when the structures and layout were changed drastically due to some popularity with new people moving in who wanted a fresh new start.
"So has being outside jogged any of your memories yet?" Graham asked politely but with a determined face. "Not really but I was told that could be normal from Dr. Kevin " . I had just recently been to the local medical facility to see if they could determine why I lost my memory in the first place but alas it seemed my selective amnesia was just one of those things that could not be explained.
"He also said not to push it cause it would probably make it worse" I said as I took a sip of my milk.
I began to believe that I was a burden to the poor sheriff and the police station but rest assure if I had said anything Im assuming Graham would disagree otherwise.
"Well at least you are able to relax while you are here and make yourself familiar with your surroundings" he said as he continued his meal.
I nodded politely and continued to finish of mine as well. After lunch we made our way to one of the local inns where I was given a room for exchange for working at a local library since it seemed I was very familiar with tons of titles and how they were supposed to be arranged.
I admit the library itself was nice and very warm and cozy though on the outside it didn't look like very much to the untrained eye.
"Don't worry " Graham said "I'm sure everything will come back in time" I thanked him politely and headed for my room for a much and well deserved nap.
