Do something! Defend your point of view! kronk---OK...I don't think that Kamala Harris lost the election because of her gender. (I've known a whole passel of capable women in my day.) I think economics and immigration were the achilles heel in her case. "L.D."---Well, whatever. I'm a k-9 so, as long as the red meat keeps flowing, then, I'm good. kronk---Write on, Ginger! ...Hi Ginger! I just don't know what to believe any more. Fact and fiction have become interchangeable Truth has been turned upside down. A daily bombardment of Trump has weakened and dispirited us all. The U.S. will lose the the most initially but the whole world is within the blast zone and this oaf, if they don't bounce him five minutes after he is inaugurated in favor of A.D.Vance, will turn the clock back and destroy a hundred years of progress if not take you back to feudalism. I am almost 70 years (old) and I'm trying to have the time of my life but this cloud is always overshadowing and depressing. I thought Harris would have been a shoe-in but something sneaky is going on in the background and Trump knew it, went along with it and seemingly, is already laying the groundwork for denials in the future when someone notices a "small discrepancy". I'm not ordinarily prone to conspiracies but the recent headline: "Doubling Down On His Election Fraud Claims: Trump Is Refusing To Accept That He Won The Election" leads me to think that (if this article has any credentials) someone has played a little loose with the voting process this time and currently, Trump is blaming the "communist democrats" for rigging the vote so he would be elected. Sounds plausible, right? More likely would be the explanation that after sliming into any orifice that could potentially do a little hocus~pocus and installing his family, partners~in~crime and political allies into key positions, backing it all up with an army of lawyers that will litigate against any and all accusations of wrongdoing. Trump may have teased this out earlier when he spoke about his "secret". Trump isn't one to have loose lips, is he? By the by, something will show and he will yell to the heavens that he called it first yet will still assume the duties of Golfer~in~Chief. I'm either losing track of what I want to say because I'm so angry about this or it's just age catching up to me. I'll probably be back later with some more griping.  |

Oh my Goodness, either I'm just a bit mentally gone ( = insenced, angry, mystified, etc, etc, etc) or the wine with dinner and double shot of bourbon a few minutes ago has flipped me off my rocker?!?!? But I find you both so hilarious. Thank you my friends, as I needed comic relief so much right now. Kronk, my friend ... you have no idea how much this little Scottish/Irish redhead (yes, I realize that I'm a 'ginger' who's birth name is Ginger) is extremely opinionated. I keep it on the down-low here on USM, mostly because I'm the owner, and I don't think it's appropriate to over-extend my opinions here on the site. We created this place for everyone else, not for our own grandstand. However, I'm surprised that you couldn't hear my giggles all the way to the gulf. I guess, we opinionated women need to step our game up. I'm sure that is one thing that will haunt me about this election. Women didn't 'man-up' enough !!! We know that we lead our household, guide our children, have careers and in many cases take care of finances and accounts. Kamala Harris had even more than that going for her legal and professional career. Yes, I agree with you. She had some issues with a few outstanding hot topics. She also needed to be more outspoken on the issues, and why she came to her decisions about the issues. However I thought some of the most provocative items that Trump skirted were extremely important. Why in 7 or 8 years he couldn't come up with a health plan for our country just baffles me. A person who is so vocal about the 'Bama Care' and how bad it was, should have had an alternative. When he was asked recently about that, he said he didn't have a concrete plan but a concept. I'm sorry, that is just not going to cut it, when that is such a huge thing in our country. Health care of families and medicine isn't readily available to middle and lower class households. Many employers do not provide the same benefits as 20, 30 or 40 years ago. The average family can not afford the premiums. I know ... don't get Ginger started. She may not have a caboose to her train.  |

Dear Hekler ... when you get serious, we know there is a big issue. You are so very correct, because this isn't just a USA problem. This 'oaf' will effect so much more than his orange bubble. George and I were assured that Trump would be handed his proverbial hat and told to go home. We don't need your kind anymore. What a complete shock to see this country thinking otherwise. I know it is convenient to shout from the rooftops ... foul, and the game has been fixed. However, it has been such a huge thorn for Trump to think the 2020 election was rigged, that my thoughts last night were that he was able to find a way to fix the swing states votes. Our monitoring agencies know that several countries were actively trying to hack into our election process. Trump's promises of future rewards or financial gain would be enough to effect the vote (if they had a way to rig it) Hekler, I'm so glad and proud of our neighbors to the north. Your country has provided a safe and sturdy bordering country. I hope it stays that way with the impending Trumpdoom. Be prepared, I've heard that people from our country will be looking for a more comfortable place to live for the next 4 years. The brigade might be led by Barbara Streisand according to a recent interview. |

Ginger You are correct on healthcare. I believe that there is so much more that our government can (and should) do to provide it's citizens with affordable healthcare. In my little community, during the last decade, two, out of our three hospitals have shutdown, the structures demolished, and the sites quickly taken over by private entities. Space in the remaining hospital is so limited that "they" seem to want to provide out patient care, only. "L.D."---C'mon, man! Get to the point, please. kronk---Ugh! So, the hospitals are shutting down because they can't get enough revenue, because the insurance companies are diagnosing our health issues, lot's of citizens (and non-citizens, also) have no insurance and the government won't help. (or, help, enough) If you want help with a health issue, "they" suggest you go to an "Urgent Care.) But, they won't treat you if you have no insurance. Yes, Washington, D.C....We have a problem! |

I think over the coming years there will be a postmortem on what exactly happened to the Democratic party during this election. It will also be remained to see if they learn their lesson. Bernie was correct when he said the Democrats have failed to reach the working people of America. This is the second time they have lost to Trump, and this time it was worse. Trump was correct when he said he now has a mandate. He won the popular vote. Something that has not happened in 20 years. We should not be surprised when Trump does the things he says we will do. The guardrails are gone. The adults will not be in the room with him this time. They have been replaced by loyalists to Trump. I worry for women, for immigrants, for LGBT people, and frankly for everyone in the world. You mentioned watching late night talk shows, which routinely criticize Trump. I feel that is part of the issue. If you are supporting Trump, you are not watching content that is critical of him. You are focused on online content creators and Fox news that praise him. Polarization is increasing to the point where even the information we receive is being funnelled through different channels. It is entirely possible that a Trump supporter has spent the last 4 years being completely ignorant of any negative news about Trump. This may explain how we are surprised that anybody could support him, and how they are surprised how anybody could not support him. I am also now convinced that Trump has a cult of personality. It does not matter what he says or does. It is not about values, ethics, morality, or even policy issues. It is simply the man. A truly dangerous time is on the horizon for us all.  |

Kronk, sorry to hear about the health care in your neck of the woods. It is the tip of the iceberg to be sure. All forms of assistance are pulling back, away from being good for the people. We live in an affluent area, but are seeing the receding Heath care afoot. We preferred a plan that seemed for the health of the family. We have been with them since the 80's. This year changes are happening that indicate serious decline. They have huge hospitals and lots of clinics, however appointments take months to get now. Other small things are changing like trash cans disappearing. Wouldn't you think that this would be an important consideration for a place that needs to have cleanliness at all costs. But no, each exam room or hospital room has no trash cans. There is one (1) trash receptacle on each floor. So, instead of having a janitorial service empty them once per day, the staff (doctors, nurses and patients) now need to walk the halls looking for trash can. Who gets paid more, doctors, nurses, or janitors. Take up the time of one vs the other ... crazy. |

Morphix, you certainly are intuitive in your observations. Went to see good ol Bernie speak and he was so passionate about this country and about making it better. I believe you maybe correct, and 'he' has become something of a cult figure. I guess some of us just didn't drink the kool-aid. Eyes open people. Not sure if anyone can fight the dictator that has risen, but if a chance arises ... I will definitely step up. I marched for women's rights and have been very outspoken in my city and state. Don't push a redhead ... she may bite back. LoL |
