Coffee and Wind

I know some of you right now are questioning my title of choice, but I need to explain what this means in the context of my life right now.

As someone who has lived 42 years of life with not a lot to show for it outside of being an aunt, a Dog Mom, Part time Homemaker who has the occasional thoughts she likes to jot down for no reason this topic might sound a little mundane or even strange.

You know that saying " Nothing is certain in life outside of Death and Taxes." Well, I might have a few more to add to that saying.

For me "Nothing seems certain in life outside of Coffee and the Wind." And what I mean is there are few things in this life I can always count on to be there when I need some kind of encouragement or motivation to keep going.

True I also have my faith, family, pets, love of reading and watching movies but those things in time seem to change and become different.

But the Wind is always blowing and sometimes really hard I might add. Last couple of nights he had his buddy rain on his side, and we had a few tornados warnings enough to where we lost power twice.

As for Coffee it always seems to be there when I need something to calm my nerves or even my agitation outside of taking a nap which seems to be a lot right now.

It's the one constant I have known growing up.

Now I know I will never be the next best writer but that doesn't stop me from having all kinds of crazy ideas and thoughts to put down.

But as for this I'm glad I was able to at least get it out somewhere in the open.

Thanks for having me in this wonderful community for so long and with time I hope to gradually come back more often.

Date: 5/19/2024 12:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 5940    Hi Sarah! I currently live in Northwest Arkansas ( moved here from Arizona back in the fall of ‘05 ) and in the spring of ‘06 I got my first experience with high winds and heavy rain which resulted in a tornado that touched down briefly in a small area roughly twenty or so miles from where I was residing temporarily.

I was able to take a drive shortly after that to have a look around the residential area ( which was a new home section being built ) because the tornado only touched down briefly, and fortunately nobody got hurt, but the damage to some of the homes and the large oak trees that became splintered was a real eye opener for me.

I grew up in Southern California and had experienced earthquakes, the worst being the Sylmar Quake of 1971 and that frightened me as a child. But the aftermath of a tornado is quite unique. I am about an hour’s drive from Joplin , Missouri and in 2011 the disaster of an F5 landed and worked itself for roughly a mile or so…

Any way, I’ll join you for a cup of coffee anytime.

Date: 5/19/2024 5:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Sarah D. I do like my coffee, lady. I'm up to about four, 5 cups pots per day. The wind has sure been blowing around our area, lately. We lost power three times in two days, a couple of weeks ago. Hail and wind and big old rain drops. "They" say it might be a very active hurricane season. I can certainly do without that.

Good to read you, my friend. Thar' she blows! Hang on and Write on.....

Date: 5/27/2024 7:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 55251    Hi Sarah, thank you for the post. "This too shall pass". "Memento mori". These are terms I like to remind myself. The impermanence of all things, good or bad.

We are all together on this roller coaster of life. We don't know when the ride will stop. But, we may as well enjoy it the best we can while we are here!
