As a child we had this female Ice Cream driver that would make the rounds in the neighborhood during the summer months. I refer to her as female because she was no lady when it came to customer service! One Saturday, a group of us kids flagged her down to get some treats. I waited at the end while the others already knew what they wanted while I scanned the sign that had the various items and prices. I only got an allowance once a week and had to make it last. When it came to my turn I still didn’t know what I wanted, or rather, how much I wanted to spend. By the time I thought I had made a decision she grabbed the money from my hand, quickly counted it, reached into the freezer compartment and slapped a rocket pop in my hand. She then proceeded to climb into the driver’s seat while grumbling about her inventory beginning to melt…. |

That's rather "catchy." Doncha' think? kronk---What? "L.D."---Hey Larry's post. kronk---Sure. "They" usually are. I look forward to Saturday; yes, I do. "L.D."---You're really lucky, you know? kronk---How's that, dog? "L.D."---"You" never overthink, anything. kronk---Yo, dog. Was that a "shot?" "L.D."---You think? kronk---Ugh! |

Hey Larry I sometimes treat the neighborhood kids to ice cream. I "quickly" learned that I could buy three half gallon containers of ice cream and cheap paper cups for less than paying the outrageous prices from the ice cream truck. "L.D."---Yeah, you were everyone's hero, until "Little Johnnie" got diarrhea from eating a quart of "Dewberries n Cream" before he went to "Sunday School." As I recall, his mother insisted that "you" go and pick him up, bring him home, and hose him down. kronk---Some folk just don't appreciate a random act of kindness. "L.D."---hehe... |

Speaking of a person who doesn’t appreciate……… Rodney Dangerfield once remarked that he got his son a Daisy B-B rifle for his birthday. When Rodney’s birthday rolled around, his son got him a t- shirt with a bullseye silk screened on the back. |

...looks like I'm late to the party again. My wrists were rebelling to the abuse I gave them while a younger, unknowing lad. This JOTW might be funny if it wasn't so true. I've been wanting to make a post for a while now and while they start out as toothpicks of an idea, they quickly grow into redwoods and become over-elaborate and I become bored with them and start something else. You should see my file of almost-rans. Hey Larry...when I was around eleven, we had a dog that would latch onto the Dickie Dee guy on the bicycle and follow him around on his route, returning home when he had managed to scavenge a few treats and get a good run in. Kronk...I'm all into the R.A.K's these days. It might be a money over brain imbalance but it doesn't take much to brighten a person's day. ...Hey Larry...did you ever listen to Rodney's audio book? Did you feel enlightened? |

...Hey Larry...I appreciate that you make these posts every Saturday. I sometimes wake up with nothing to complain about and these give me an early opportunity to get my griping ready for the day ahead. |

Was the “ Dickie Dee” ice cream salesperson a former Tour De France competitor? This has got me thinking that he must have been in relatively good shape to peddle out of harm’s way. No, I never did read/ listen to Rodney’s book. I thought that I would wait for the movie to come out on cable / dvd. |

...the Dickie Dee kid delivered ice cream by lazily riding around the neighborhoods and jingling his bells. The job description never made mention of the need to achieve a speed of 88 MPH nor was a flux capacitor involved. The dog was a moocher. Liked ice cream. Preyed on kids. |

Hekler Well put, man. Sometimes, a smile is all it takes to make my day. "L.D."---You know what would make my day? kronk---I'm actually afraid to ask. "L.D."---Red meat, and lots of it! kronk---Ugh! |
