What's the most you ever paid for a pair of shoes? kronk---Well, back in the early eighties, a local sporting goods store was liquidating it's stock and I paid $29.95 for a pair of (supposedly) $200. hunting boots. "L.D."---Were the boots any good? kronk---I kept those boots for forty years. I finally cut `em up for scrap leather, last year. "L.D."---Wow! That's a long time! You must have taken really good care of them? kronk---Yep; cleaned and greased `em every month; whether they needed it, or not. "L.D."---Wear `em much? kronk---Only once. Wore `em on a hunting trip to Idaho, and my feet hurt so bad that I had to see a Podiatrist. "L.D."---Ugh! |

...Hey Larry! Good to see you and the J.O.T.W ! I was getting worried because of the later posting today and because of a rumor I had heard that the J.O.T.W.had been abducted and wouldn't be released until it promised to be good. How did it get free? |

Oooookaaayyy. You do realize that the side effects of Ambien are as follows: daytime drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea. Sleepwalking, behavior changes……. There may be an association between Ambien and a higher risk of dementia. |

...I'm currently looking for a pair of god-awful $400 sneakers, preferably in gold and with the universal symbol for innocence, a capital "T" boldly emblazoned on the sides. Walmart had a pair that was close to what I was looking for but when I noticed the brand, Tadidas, I kept looking. There was also a cheaper pair of Tikes and one really gaudy set of Teeboks. |

...Kronk...I know where you were with the hunting boots. When the company I worked for mandated steel toes for the department I was in, it was the beginning of nine months of hurt. I ordinarily wore a decent pair of runners and moved like a strong breeze; a cross between Wayne Gretzky on a breakaway and a ballet dancer. I suspect this quality of movement derived from having a fast-walking mother as a kid and you learned to keep up. I also liked to get to where I had to be and do what I had to do as quickly as possible and move on to the next thing. I detested clomping around like a Clydesdale. I wore those medieval instruments of torture for the full nine months before I took pity on my poor twisted and aching feet. It took almost a year before my feet had become normal again. |

Hey Larry While I understand the safety aspect of wearing steel toed footwear, I sure hated putting those things on. It's as if my foot would never fit just right. These days, while I wear boots without the protective toe cap, I still opt for the protective midsole. Nasty critters with rigid, and barbed spines. Ugh! |

Hekler After I officially retired, "they" called me and wanted me to go back for eight months. So, like a hungry fish, I swallowed the bait; "hook, line and sinker." You won't have to lift a finger, "they" said. All you have to do is show up and point things out to "certain" people, "they" said. Why don't you ever leave for lunch, "they" said? You have plenty of time to eat and get back. I told `em I was on a very strict diet, but in reality, I needed to elevate my poor aching feet, or I wouldn't have made it. I finished that job and "they" called again a few months after......I wasn't home. |
