The 2022 midterms and 2023 local/district/state elections...a sign of what 2024 could be???

A couple weeks ago, many states had their local elections and voting on some social proposals. In my district in southwestern Virginia, we voted for district attorneys, sheriff, treasurer, school board officials, etc. We also voted on a proposal dealing with water/the environment, if I remember right. That last part I didn't know was going to be on the ballot until I was filling it out. I wrote in a ballot for ex-Journey frontman Steve Perry and KFC Founder Colonel Harland Sanders on ballots where Republicans were running unchallenged. Farts and giggles, you know. Vote for someone who represents YOUR values. Lmao.

Moving on...I was surprised by the results. Especially here in Virginia. Mind you, our side of the state is still dominated by Republican Congressfolk, and unfortunately will be for the foreseeable future. The details I recall about Ohio is that, like so many other states including Virginia, they are taking measures to legalize marijuana. Like Michigan, they have also passed a measure to enshrine reproductive freedom into their state constitution. Another huge step forward for women's rights. In Virginia altogether, there were some things I did not see coming. Let's keep in mind that President Biden has been largely unpopular for the vast majority of his term thus far, regardless of the implications. Now onto Virginia...

I was extremely surprised and impressed with the results. Going to into the election, Virginia Democrats were the majority in the State Senate and Republicans had more delegates in the House. Dems not only kept the Senate but retained a majority of the House. They previously lost the House going into the 2021 Virginia Governor's Race, which a Republican had won. It's too early to tell. But as has sometimes been the case, elections the year before another presidential race can sometimes be a hint or even a blueprint as to what to expect in those nationwide elections, such as 2024. People will obviously have to get out and vote again. But this could bode very well for Joe Biden going into the potential of him running for re-election. For a president who has been as been as unpopular as said, Biden has done an impressive job in 2022 and 2023 keeping Dems together. I said it this time last year and I will say it again: Republicans' majority in the House in DC is so slim, there may as well be no majority. The recent fight for the House speakership is an indictment of that, regardless of how it turned out. Dems even technically expanded their Senate seats in the 2022 midterms. Altogether, a lot of things still need to happen for Biden to cruise to victory and maybe one that isn't extremely narrow. People still rightfully complain about high prices and inflation (some of us may call it 'corporate price-gouging'>. Gas prices are going down. Below $3/gallon now at the gas station right near where I work. Definite signs of progress. More work needs to be done in the meantime. I just hope the GOP keeps their setback modes and losing streak going into the 2024 elections.

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?
Here's what she said to me
Qué será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Qué será, será
What will be, will be
When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead?
Will we have rainbows day after day?
Here's what my sweetheart said
Qué será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Qué será, será
What will be, will be
Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome? Will I be rich?
I tell them tenderly
Qué será, será
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Qué será, será
What will be, will be
Qué será, será

...all of them if I have the time.

Show “ mentality that the current MAGA Republican minority is currently trying to shove down everyone’s throat. Oh sure, even Charles Manson and Jim Jones had their devout, albeit, minority followers. Since Trump lost the election in 2020 the following election cycle hasn’t improved for them. And as far as “ The Election Was Stolen “ routine goes, if they haven’t got the evidence to support it then stop trying to usurp The Constitution and get out of the way.

"L.D."---The only reason your group won that award was because the rest of classes were protesting bad food, and they refused to sing.

kronk---Ugh!

"L.D."---Is that all you have to say? What? Cat got your tongue? Spit it out; why doncha'!

kronk---Make America Great Again!
