(( I ran into someone who's life was completely derailed from where it was headed when I knew them years ago. Looking back, I remembered being the only friend they had that did not encourage them to embrace the drug life. They became super close to me and stopped living that life. She professed her interest in our being more than friends and I could not go there so to speak. It wound up with our going down the road of life in 2 separate directions. I saw her and wondered "what if I had given it a chance? Maybe she might not have become the hopeless, miserable drug addict that stands in front of me now". Then I looked at where I am and how I wound up. I guess I did not fare any better. But what if some component I had asked for that was in the control of someone else would have allowed my progress and success in life. I think sometimes it is all in who you know and how you know them. But this is just a song about the question that brings me to that belief.>
I ran into someone I had once turned away.
It saddened me to see her and how her life became chaos and dismay.
I had the guilty question "would her life have gone that way?
If I had opened up my heart and let her stay."
Then I looked at my own life and wondered if anyone had asked.
The same question about me when thinking of the past.
It's funny how we never think we have an effect on everybody else's lives.
Until we're faced with what we have and have not done with those chaos eyes.
We never stop to think before we do, how many hearts broke for me and you.
It's the one thing worse than lies, when you cause those chaos eyes.
We always have to pay for all that we do but, not more than they do.
Don't you dare try to run and hide, when you meet the darkness in their chaos eyes.
