Shadow people...what do you make of them? Plus an encounter

One of the things I wish I had brushed up on more instead of right-wing politics in the late 2000s was my penchant for paranormal stories and encounters. Thankfully, I am back to pick that up again. For those of you like myself who know ghosts/apparitions/spirits and dare I say perhaps even demons exist...what do you make of shadow people? What do you think they are? Their purpose?

Around 2009, I had an ex girlfriend who believes shadow people are generally demonic in nature. Based on my own experience coupled with several accounts I have read or watched, I am inclined to agree. Shadow people do not seem friendly at all. The big black masses or blurs that may appear and vanish just as quickly from the corners of our eyes. Or, if the atmosphere is right, big black masses, shapeless or taking the form of a hooded figure or the 'hat man', that may take their sweet time to make their presence known.

It was October 2011, almost three years after my big ban from USM and a few days, perhaps a week and a half before that Halloween. I was living with another ex at that time and the house we lived at in Tennessee was very much haunted. Rumors abound that the whole neighborhood was built over Confederate/Civil War grave markers. The bathroom the ex and I shared had a sink, and the faucet would turn on and off on its own. Plumbing issues could contribute to that, but it mostly happened at night. The ex and I had separate bedrooms. I'm pretty sure I would have heard someone come in my room just to breathe down my neck and ear. Heard it, felt it, scared the bejeezus out of me. There were several separate afternoons I would put my digital camera in the basement and leave it on recording while we were out of the house. The lights appeared to turn off on their own about 18 minutes into one clip, followed almost immediately by loud stomping on the stairwell. My ex's mom and I hung out in the basement in the dark one afternoon, and picked up a voice on the camera that we hadn't heard during recording.

Many of these things still dull in comparison to one experience I had that night in mid-late October. I slept on the living room couch that night. All the lights in the room were off, save the digital clock on the DVD and cable apparatuses around the TV. Orange light from street lights down the curb crept into the living room window. I kinda spaced out and glanced around the living room in the dark. In a corner about 8 or 10 feet away, a shadowy mass materialized. My intuition, instinct, and what little I saw of it whenever I think back on it wants me to think it's the hooded figure shadow. It may have just been some blotchy black shadow entity in general. But it formed and it very slowly floated from that end of the room and I guess through the wall on the other end. Only seconds after it formed, I got freaked out and put my blanket over my head until I knew it was gone. The room was already dark, and that being made it feel even darker. Whatever light was trickling through the room may as well have been put out until that thing was done.

I had rumors from the ex's family that the house had been haunted even BEFORE my ex brought an ouija board into the house. Lol.

If nothing else could make me believe in spirits or demons outright, this certainly did.
