Loneliness the Greatest Weakness and Greatest Strength

It seems to me loneliness can be both a weakness and strength. For those who enjoy their time alone they are able to gain insight into things when they spend solitude contemplating their life, or goals. For those who have felt neglected or forgotten loneliness can take a toll without the love and companionship of others.

Anyone have more insight to share? It seems that as more and more technology comes into our world this could lead to more loneliness? Or what do you say friends. Has social media alleviated or filled the loneliness in our world.

Date: 8/12/2023 5:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 21435    Heart and Soul I've felt extremely lonely while surrounded by hundreds of people, and also felt like I "really belonged," while alone at my desktop, logged on to
USM. You make a great point, lady. Write on.....

Date: 8/12/2023 6:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 5940    Yeah, it’s not easy being a hermit at times. I find that I have friends , but my real close friends live far far away. I do have family and care for my younger brother, but there are times I wished that I could fly off somewhere and disappear for awhile. I’m on Facebook, but seldom use it except to occasionally say hi to someone I haven’t seen in some time, other I tend to avoid. But I have found that I remain closest to those that mean the most to me.

Date: 8/12/2023 7:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 55251    I have read articles that state we are more connected than ever before and paradoxically more distant from each other. I talk to my friends less than I did before, even though it's easier now. I think that for some people, particularly introverts, solitude is kind of like a drug. I need to be careful, because I can spend a lot of time alone and be content. I feel that if we become more accustomed to solitude, we begin to forget what it's like to be comfortable around others, which makes us crave the comfort of solitude. I worry this could slowly erodes our ability to properly socialize and form bonds/friendships.
