Hair Everywhere

“Gimme a head with hair Long, beautiful hair Shining, gleaming Streaming, flaxen, waxen,,”. HAIR

No not the musical……

BRUSSELS, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Coiffeurs across Belgium are sweeping up and bagging hair clipped from their customers, and then handing it over to an NGO that recycles it to protect the environment.

The Hair Recycle project feeds locks and tresses into a machine that turns them into matted squares that can be used to absorb oil and other hydrocarbons polluting the environment, or made into bio-composite bags.

Project Co-founder Patrick Janssen, explaining that 1 kilogram (2.2 lbs) of hair can absorb 7-8 litres (1.8-2.1 U.S. gallons) of oil and hydrocarbons, said the mats can be placed in drains to soak up pollution in water before it reaches a river.

The project said on its website that hair has powerful properties: one strand can support up to 10 million times its own weight, and as well as absorbing fat and hydrocarbons, it is water-soluble and highly elastic due to its keratin fibres. Link below….

Date: 1/3/2023 4:43:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hey Larry Heavy! I remember when I first moved to where I am, now, I-----

"L.D."---Wait a minute! What kinda' opening statement is that?

kronk---C'mon, dog! Gimme' a break! I'm trying to comment, here.

"L.D."---What ever?

kronk---Anyway, I took a tour of this mansion type house, that "they" turned into a historic place, or something. I mean, it was cool, in a way. When my ancestors
were still riding mules to town, once a week, to do the shopping, those rich folk had A/C and color television.

"L.D."---What has any of that to do with hair?

kronk---I was getting to that. While walking through the bedrooms in the house, "they" showed us a pillow case full of "the lady of the house's" hair. It seems it
was fashionable to save the hair, after a hair cut, in those days.

"L.D."---So, what did "they" use the hair for?

kronk---I don't know. I spotted a 19th century six foot color reel in the next room and left the group.

"L.D."---Ugh!

KITCHEN TIP - add hair to ground meats to r e a l l y stretch out your weekly food costs.

Date: 1/10/2023 4:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 998    Hmm, I'm wondering if they need animal hair? No, not you L.D.

Seems like dog groomers everywhere could add their fur to the environmental effort.

Date: 1/10/2023 4:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Ginger That's a good point. "L.D." puts out tons of hair, on a regular basis. Since we've had him, we've worn out four stand up vacuums and eight hand held mini
vacs.

"L.D."---Never mind him, Ginger. He's just jealous. He has "no" hair to contribute to that cause.

kronk---Ugh!
