On the morning of October 27th 1916, in the middle of the First World War, the small community of Salcombe suffered a terrible loss when the William and Emma lifeboat capsized near Salcombe Bar after returning from an abortive mission. Thirteen of the fifteen-man crew were drowned. The lifeboat had been called out, about six o'clock in the morn- ing, to render assistance to the schooner Western Lass, which was reported to have been wrecked on Meg Rock, near Prawle Point.

Today ( in America) is both National Black Cat Day and National Beer Day! ( have a cold one with without being superstitious)

Hekler, notorious prankster and all around root canal minus the Novocain was born, 1957. Though he insists that he’s a perpetual “21” because he’s among the very young at heart. All the best and many more.

..I am a perpetual 21 except for the fact that my body feels like
it has been torpedoed and I think I just messed my bell-bottoms.

...Thanks Morphix. Pay no attention to the dubious character of the person that made this post.

Date: 10/28/2022 7:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 21435    Happy Birthday, Hekler!

"L.D."---Wow! Hekler was born in 1916! I didn't think he was quite that old.

kronk---No, dog. Hekler was born in `57. This is one of those "On this day in history," posts.

"L.D."---Oh, ok. How old is "Cher?"

kronk---"Cher" is sort like "Martha," they look better as time goes by.

"L.D."---FX

kronk---You got it, dog.

Date: 10/29/2022 11:24:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5940    Actually L.D., Hekler is older than Nosferatu and just as ugly. Actor Klaus Kinski said that he modeled his performance after Hekler but never quite felt that he did it justice. Max Schreck wasn’t available to comment.
