HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — Three men were arrested in Florida after deputies said they were seen using a saw to cut down and steal traffic lights.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a detective driving home from an off-duty detail overnight Saturday saw a suspicious van. The van’s driver stopped near an intersection and turned off the vehicle’s headlights. The detective then said they saw sparks.

When more deputies arrived at the scene, they saw three men using a saw to cut traffic lights off the poles. Deputies said in the news release that the suspects had already put three traffic lights inside the van.

Deputies said that the men, identified as Aaron Ward, James Donnelly and Oleksiy Naumenko, were arrested on theft charges and admitted to stealing the lights. Each traffic light is valued at $5,000.

All three men were released from the Hernando County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond, according to online records.

Once they had collected a much larger number of traffic lights, they had planned
to approach the state of Arkansan and make an attempt to sell them this wonderful
new innovation. Naturally, the people of Arkansas would be confused by these bright
blinky things but before long, they would be back to crashing into each other like
nothing happened.

...I remember the "blue light specials".
Never anything I had a use for.

Date: 10/13/2022 5:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Wow! All sorts of strange and twisted behavior, these days.

kronk---Amen, dog. Isn't tampering with traffic lights something like a crime against humanity?

"L.D."---It may be, but I'm really not the one to ask. I am not a human.

kronk---Point taken. "They" were released on a $2000. bond, after being arrested.

"L.D."---Yeah. I thought that was a pretty weak dollar amount for a crime against humanity.

kronk---Right. I think what those boys need is to be en"light"ened. (With about three years, hoeing okra, down in South Louisiana.)

"L.D."---Gumbo Ya Ya, baby!

Date: 10/13/2022 5:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hey Larry : Most of those thieving bums are lazy, as well. Hit `em where it hurts, I say.

"L.D."---How about a little compassion, man.

kronk---Earn it.

"L.D."---Whoa
