...I had always wondered if your parents had let you have guests in your cage as a child. |

I had a penpal from South Korea when I was about 14 years old. I guess I was surprised that she could speak and write in English at that time. I'm not really sure what I expected way back then. About four months ago, I was going through a bunch of boxes that I had in storage forever and found a whole box of these letters and "souvenirs" of South Korea. The hoarder in me felt terrible at finally giving these the toss instead of keeping them around for others to toss when I kick the bucket. This will be my revenge for all the times I had to go through the same process for others. |

...it all began when he asked me for a pen and calling me "pal". Now, I have to repeatedly tell him that I have no spare change. |

I had a pen pal, once. We wrote back and forth a few times and then all of a sudden, nothing. It's like he dropped off the face of the earth. "L.D."---Things were going alright until kronk included a bunch of his awful poems in the correspondence. He never heard from his pen pal, again. kronk---You're a cold hearted dog, you know that? "L.D."---Never forget it. kronk---Ugh! |

...I guess I could say that I have a pen pal now but this person uses a poison pen and hates those poor little squirrels. I guess you have to take what you can get. |

I like our pen pals. "L.D."---Yes, indeed. "They" certainly do break the monotony. kronk---YES! Here's to all the wonderful people here! Got anything to toast with? "L.D."---All I have left is a gallon of "Mad Dog." kronk---That should do it. Have you got a suitable toast? "L.D."---"Rose lipt lasses and light footed lads!" kronk---here here |
Date: 9/28/2022 9:43:00 PM From Authorid: 28125 I have two pen pals right now...one of them I've had for a long time now...I joined Postcrossing which is a web site where you send postcards to people around the world...it's so much fun...I enjoyed having pen pals in my teens and 20s more...but with social media and stuff...the written word and a handwritten letter is rare these days...but snail mail is my favorite...fantastic news story...ICL----PA |

Hi PA! I flew to Colorado back in the spring of ‘21. Had a layover in Dallas and thought it would be fun to send a couple post cards to friends and found them to be non existent. I popped into a gift shop and inquired if any were to be had and then it was pointed into the direction of a hidden location where a rack was positioned in a corner and had a meager selection on five different ones to choose from. I had an even more fun trying to find postage stamps let alone a mail box. Lol! |

Hey Larry "L.D." here: I do think that "they" still manufacture "The Mad Dog." I never touch that stuff. Searched up a partial quote about that delicate bouquet: "As majestic as the cascading waters of a drain pipe...." kronk---Dog; you sure being mighty hard on my go to "ghetto-wine." "L.D."---The headache that stuff produces wouldn't fit into "three heads." kronk---Ugh! |
Date: 9/30/2022 11:22:00 AM From Authorid: 55251 I had a pen pal as a child. In fact, I kept our correspondence and later connected with them on social media 20+ years later. They remembered me, but promptly stopped communicating with me. I think I unintentionally creeped them out by finding them. |
Date: 9/30/2022 5:45:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5940 I know how you feel Morphix. I re- connected with a former childhood friend from my Kindergarten to 6th grade days. It began as a “ Hey, How ya doing “ moment. But forty plus years later….things changed. |
