74  How interesting, the part about "living with the natives." You can get the feel for a place, when you stay that long. As far as I know, I have never contracted malaria. I have suffered somewhat similar conditions, and been bitten by literally many thousands of mosquitoes. Maybe, I have just never been bitten the the right mosquitoes, or ingested the right larvae.
