Date: 4/4/2022 3:22:00 AM From Authorid: 5940 It’s good to see you! Married with a mortgage eh? I’m three years or so away from retirement ( unless I win a lottery jackpot ) and almost have my mortgage paid off. Oh, you have nothing to be embarrassed about, for the last twenty years we’ve had to read Hekler’s posts and believe me you’re fine. |
Date: 4/4/2022 3:34:00 AM From Authorid: 55251 It looks like you and I arrived here the same year (I will be 20 years this June). I was also a middle schooler when I arrived here. Feels like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? I remember sitting at our old family computer with the big CRT monitor and connecting to the dial-up internet to visit USM. Definitely don't miss that internet! But I do miss other things about that time. USM was much more active in those days and I met many friends, only a few of which are still communicating with me. I've tried connecting with those who have drifted away, but I usually receive some version of "uh, who are you?", which is understandable, but also makes me sad. I learned a lot both on USM and because of USM. There's no doubt that it changed my life. I hope we'll see you around here again soon. Take care and be happy. |

Ghostie Gal Welcome back, lady. Yes, indeed, time marches on. I'm still posting things that could be construed as being "embarrassing." Of course, now, it doesn't bother me nearly as much. I still listen to "Tito & Tarantula," and I also got myself a talking dog. Good to read you and write on..... |

It's so funny to come back, it brings me right to seeing in my family's den searching around the internet for the first time. I think I honestly just typed in "unsolved mysteries" to some search engine (who knows if it was even Google then, right? maybe I asked Jeeves) because I was interested in, well, unsolved mysteries. I hadn't even ever seen the show! Haha. I did end up becoming a writer, so it's so funny to go back and look at my first attempts at screenplays and stories. It actually made me smile...I was so confident in sharing my work, even though it was obviously silly and childish. It reminded me to have that kind of confidence now. I remember having a whole list of "USM Family" in my notebook! Honestly don't remember much of the details, except Hangman13 and WoodenNickel were in it. The names stuck with me I guess Nowadays along with regular work and married life I also make films and co-host a podcast on the paranormal, true crime, and everything weird. USM definitely prepared me for that, for sure! I'm seeing y'alls tags and remembering you from back then...I definitely remember Hey Larry and Kronk! |
