I was scammed out of $70

I got scammed out of $70. Good thing it was over $100.

This person on Instagram posted saying I had won a free Nintendo switch. I messaged back to see if this was legit. The guy said yes that it was a promotion for the opening of the store he was working at. I said ok, we went back and forth. He said I had to pay $35 for shipping. I was hesitant but agreed, I mean $35 for a Nintendo switch yes. Then he said he will process and send tracking thru Fed ex. Well then a few minutes later he says I would have to pay another $35 because it would be two boxes arriving. He also said for the inconvenient he would be adding free items. At first I didn’t wanna pay another $35. The guy assured me he would send the switch. So I paid another $35. Altogether I paid $70, for a switch a good deal. He said Fed ex would be sending me the tracking, that he couldn’t. This was on Friday at 1am, the rest of the day I couldn’t get a hold of the guy and all day Saturday. On Sunday someone from the account sent me a message saying yes they were gonna ship. But now I would have to pay $20 for faster shipping. This person said he was the manager of the store the account is for. And that the person I talked to was fired. I told this person I’m not paying any more to just ship it regular shipping. Whoever this guy was didn’t want to till I paid the $20. I told him I already paid $70 and I won’t be paying any more. We went back and forth and he was being rude to me. Then came out and said that I was being rude to him. So I told him to refund my $70 or send my switch. He said he would refund my money (I don’t think he is). So I’m out $70 just thank god it wasn’t more.

So if something sounds to go to be true it is.

But yeah, if it sounds too good to be true it is. That’s why I avoid any emails from Nigeria.

...the guy that left the first comment here tried to sell me an old bridge last week.
It sounded like a good deal at first but then he said it was located in London, England
and couldn't be shipped.

He said the reason he was selling is because the British people wouldn't let him visit it
anymore with all this Covid stuff flying around and now he's forced to sell it before the
Queen makes her move and repossesses it for nonpayment of property taxes.

Being a British subject myself, we Canadians are always welcomed back to the Motherland
with open arms and fruit baskets. Still, I had to say no because I tend to get violently
homesick when I'm more than ten miles away from home and realized that the deal was no good
for me.

Too bad about the Switch though. Should have told him to send it postage due.

I'll throw in a free passport and sirfare!

Date: 10/11/2021 11:08:00 AM  From Authorid: 21435    Redeye007 You said it, brother. Once, I found the "boat of my dreams" for only 500 dollars. A person on the east coast, who was a captain in the armed forces, no less. All I had to do was send him cash and he would personally deliver the boat to me. (1800 miles away, even)

I was about ready to pull the trigger when my associate slapped me upside my head and took away the checkbook. After that, I have come to the conclusion that there are "no" good deals to be had, anymore.

Sometimes, life's lessons "come at a cost." Write on.....

...I have been knighted Sir Fare.
I'm off to rescue some damsels in distress.
(as long as they're not near Lake Havasu)

Date: 10/13/2021 9:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 10657    That's certainly frustrating to say the least. I probably would've contacted the corporate office first before I sent money to someone. I mean if it's a gift that you won, the only person you need to pay is the IRS.

Içm sorry that happened to you. Crossing my fingers that you get your money back.

Date: 11/22/2021 2:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 19772    So sorry this happened to you. Some people are real jerks. I'm pretty sure we've all had something like this happen to us at some point on-line. I guess just feel lucky that it was only $70 and at least just consider it a lesson learned.
