20 years ago a 13 year old boy got his first computer with internet. He was new to the internet. The only websites he knew at the time were the websites his computer teacher at school told him to go to during class. He sat in front of the computer thinking about what to type in wondering what kind of stuff was on the internet for him to find. He thought about his favorite TV show and decided to type in www.unsolvedmysteries.com. Unsure if it would work, he hit enter and a page came up which looked unfamiliar to him. It said "Unsolved Mysteries" but he could tell by looking at it that it didn't have anything to do with the TV show. He looked around and saw all kinds of interesting posts and stories. Ghost stories were his favorite... He decided to create an account (With the help of his also curious grandmother who was sitting next to him reading along.)
That little boy was me. The fact that it has been 20 years makes me feel so old, but yet so happy at the same time. USM has been a huge part of my childhood, and also my adulthood. I cannot imagine where I'd be without this website. The lifelong friends that I have made makes it that much better. USM has been with me throughout my entire journey through graduating 8th grade, to my first and last day of high school. It's been with me on my first day of college, to the day I graduated. Through happy times and heartbreaks. You all have a spot in my heart and I honestly cannot thank you all enough for 20 amazing years. Now that I'm an adult, I have to admit that life gets busy and sometimes I forget to log in and say hi. But the best part is no matter how long I'm away, whenever I do come back, I'm always welcomed with open arms. And to me, that is the best thing of all. Thank you all so much for every thing! And here's to 20 more amazing years!
