Hero Cat Saves the Day

Thanks to the "quite persistent" meowing of her cat, an 83-year-old woman in Cornwall, England, was rescued over the weekend from the bottom of a ravine.

On Saturday, the woman's neighbors began to worry when they couldn't find her at home or in the immediate area, and they called the police for help. The woman owns a black cat named Piran, and one of the neighbors who joined the search effort told BBC News she heard Piran's loud meows coming from the top of a ravine. Piran was "quite persistent," the neighbor said, and when first responders got to her, they were able to see the cat's owner had fallen 70 feet into the ravine.

The woman was carried up on a stretcher and taken to an area hospital, where she is in stable condition. The neighbor told BBC News "it's a massive 'well done' to all the emergency services who worked together and to Piran," but Bodmin Police are giving all credit to the cat, saying she is the one who "saved the day."

Date: 8/18/2021 4:02:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5940    Perhaps I should leave a note above the food dish to have anyone who fills her food bowl to do a welfare check to see if I’m not at the bottom of a ravine.

...if his were to be investigated further, the authorities would quickly discover that the woman was having
a walk along the top of the ravine and the cat wound itself through her legs, causing her to trip and fall.

The cat was said to be laughing in a cat-like manner.

Date: 8/18/2021 11:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 5301

...not only when you're at work. While you sleep, your cat is going through your wallet
and helping itself to money, napkins with phone numbers and poutine recipes.

You should also be checking your browser history to see if the cat has been looking for
things like "pipe bomb" and "gas explosion". If so, start going to sleep with one eye open
and switch to an electric range.

Date: 8/18/2021 3:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Hey Larry That is so cool. I can't say that I like all animals, but I do try to give animals as much consideration as possible. Many moons ago, while the family and I were at the boat launch, a razor thin, stray, female, tabby cat rubbed up against my daughters ankle. Of course you know what followed; "Awwwww, Mom and Dad. Look how cute! Can we keep her? Please."

Well, we kept "Miss Kitty, " for about seven years. (I called her "Super Freak.) The children had "kittens a plenty" to play with, until they outgrew such things and I liked "Super Freak," just fine. One day, she just disappeared and I was down in the dumps for some time.

L.E.D. doesn't care much for felines, ever since a saber tooth tiger chased him up a giant coconut palm tree, back in the "Eocen epoch."

Date: 8/19/2021 4:12:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5940    I know what you mean Kronk, as a teen we had this female tortoise shell that acted like she was everyone’s mother. Mostly an outdoor cat she’d roam the area and sleep in the garage or back porch.

She showed up one morning with about a quarter inch of her tail missing. Who knows what happened there. Then there was the time she was showing off her hunting skills when she brought a mole into my dad’s work area in the garage. Boy was that mole really angry. My dad repeatedly tried to set the mole outside to freedom but it kept coming back after my dad…..all to the amusement of the cat.

Date: 8/28/2021 3:17:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 5940    I agree Heart & Soul. I adopted a cat back in 2003 and she is still here with me today.
