I Remember Momma, Not my Momma, Well you’ll See

Every now and then I come across an article or item in the news or magazine that is really thought provoking or inspiring or just a plain good ol fashion read.

Such an article ( a link is provided below ) got me to thinking about some of my friends mothers, and how I wished that they could have been my mother. Not that I don’t think my mother was a good mother mind you, but she was more disciplinarian than most.

Keep in mind that I am viewing this through the eyes of childhood, where fun and not having the responsibility of being an adult has settled in yet. And one such “ Mom” was that of my best friend of over forty years. Why?

Because she was an encouraging sort who loved to join in on whatever silly antics we were engaging in, wether it be playing lousy music on the piano, making comic voice recordings on a cassette tape player imitating whatever character came to mind, drawing, painting....and so forth. She was interested in how creative we could be.

Anyway, if you have the time, and it’s a short read, I think you’ll enjoy this article as much as I did.

How it changed my life:

Moms are great!

...I had a number of people in my earlier years that encouraged me to follow my pursuits no matter how
much others may have frowned upon them.

My mom was always behind us kids and would also do her best to see that we had the things that would allow
us to indulge in our interests even if it meant that we didn't eat as well as we might have or have the
trappings of visual wealth. Our riches were in what we learned and learned how to do.
