You made me want to spend my life playing music and playing hearts. At least the strings there of trying to match your whits and smarts. You carried me through the years making me both laugh and cry. If not for you and your music, I surely would have died. You always made time to talk to me in my brief Nashville stay. It was always kindly advice making me see tomorrow could be today. You caused me to laugh away my darkest and morbid emotions I would receive. At 12 years old I laughed at 16, Ray Stevens you made a songwriter of me.
Jerry Jeff Walker was your name at least the one you chose. Your songs touched the deepest depths of me, I can't say my favorite songs you know. From "Mr. Bojangles, Ramblin' Scramblin'" to "Old New Mexico". Your words had so much meaning and so much more than you know. Your voice would send chills up every persons' spine that heard you as your heart sang. You gave us all your everything in each song even when they got strange. I never will forget you since we led parallel lives. I find tears swelling in my eyes knowing you had to say goodbye.
Charlie Daniels I want you to know, you taught me to rock and take a stroll. I am sorry we never met I wanted to work with you in my soul. I loved that fiddle sound you made famous so very many years ago. You really did not have a genre and you were good to the fans and folks. No more of the "Devil Went Down To Georgia" or "Long Haired Country Boy" Like "Mud Cat" we will never see someone so unique as you again. To all of the above, I look forward to seeing you in Heaven and tearing down the house. Your music has been deeply loved both back then and now.
