Work is Torment

Sitting in the silence that is my cell
Surprise abates through my own dismay
Day dreams relief from the torturing hell
Echoes around from the similar fray
Click clack Click clack repeat your motion saved
Labor stays a servant’s tormented scream
Click clack click clack become truly enslaved
Endlessly looping is work’s fever dream
Time passes by slow from cubicle’s hole
Endless, dull, and repetitively drab
Continuing the gray and mindless scroll
The bureau is a beach we are the crab
Day’s end for me brings fear for me to know
Tomorrow is but today’s shadow

(That's not counting cutting yards as a child and paying jobs, while I was a teenager.) Lots of the work was outdoors, but I was chained to a desk for a few years, also. Take heart and enjoy as you go, cause one day, you'll be old, like me. Thanks for the fine read and write on....
