Poison in the Game

There is no joy in Mudville
It has turned into Vaudeville

Casey no longer swings his bat with pride
The game has been invaded from the outside

Disease and politics have poisoned our wonderful game
The fans are now cardboard cutouts with audio soundbites...what a shame

It was something pure and a pleasant escape from our everyday routine
Popcorn, peanuts and crackerjack are no longer a part of this scene

Casey now hangs his head and it only feels like a bad dream
Nothing to get excited about when you watch your TV screen

Please bring back those good old days
Yes...baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet

Date: 9/16/2020 5:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    I don't get the cardboard fans. I actually believe I'd feel better, just looking at empty seats. The fake cheering doesn't do much for me, either. All we have to do is make it through and hopefully, we'll pick up where we left off. I want two bags of peanuts, a couple of loaded hot dogs and a 32 oz beer. Way to say it, American Antipasto! Write on.....
