"Laura"............kronk

The wind screams.

The trees moan.

A total lack of any precipitation.

Lightning strikes, and thunder booms.

Tame things whimper and tremble.

Wild things lie still and close their eyes.

Human kind is in awe. Nature's intimidation-

Roofs and windows shattered. Windswept rooms-

(and fifty miles to the east)

Sandy ocean waters, driven

onshore at 120 knots-

High tide over the marshes- Inundation!

Flooded prairies, churches, tombs-

Tangled wreckage-

Pressure changes-

Violent outburst-

Hurricane!

(I was spared, this time. Only fifty miles away....desolation.)

Date: 9/6/2020 4:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 998    Always love reading your works, my friend. So glad to know that you were spared and lived to tell the tale.
Date: 9/8/2020 6:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    American Antipasto Thanks for the kind words. Most of my gang left the area. (smart choice) I keep saying that I will leave also, but it's tough taking off and leaving everything behind. I was prepared to beat a hasty retreat, but that was not necessary, since the storm veered away from my area at the last minute. Electric power was lost for three days and aside from the 105 degree heat index, I made it well enough. I could definitely live the rest of my days without experiencing another hurricane. Sometimes, I wonder if I have been snatched up and deposited into some other dimension.
Date: 9/8/2020 6:25:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    Celtic Princess God is good. I am seriously considering a move, away from hurricanes. Too much tension. Thanks for the thoughts, lady. Stay sweet.
Date: 9/8/2020 6:34:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 21435    Ginger I really am more foolhardy than brave. I could never encourage anyone to ride out one of those storms. Truth be known, the whole experience is extremely frightening. The first half of that post dealt with what I experienced during that "long" night. The second half is what "could" have happened if the eye of the storm had passed over my area. Thanks for reading, my friend.
