foggiest are these trails through the hills pathways hidden beneath dead leaves just forgotten beauty cold and barely the light shines through caught between the trees seasons come and go survived on memories slowly consumed and expired the wind carries the scent of mountain rain pouring on the flames of broken promises and the desires of loves cost deeper in the wilderness where we remain lost in the dark we cross our hearts in the day we look away but I feel the fireflies are still in your hand somewhere in the weeds and dreams I know you see you and I and they light up around us dancing beneath an October night you buried it so deep the earth weeps the fog returns, hiding you from me just as scared as the day we came undone in the denseness I run all I find is an imprint of you the dirt so cold, I tremble and sigh through the tears I whisper lies that this love was real and you existed on the mountain somewhere I lay beneath years of erosion in the the forest dreamscapes
